Anyone have alarm problems?

I have had my orange MSP for almost a year now. About a month ago whenever I would activate my alarm for my remote, the parking lights would flash and then stay on. The only way to turn them off was to start the car. So rather than let my battery die, I couldn't activate my alarm.

Took my MSP to the dealership to have this fixed, get the flash, bushings etc. Went to get it yesterday and they said everything was fixed but the alarm. Apparently they ran out of the part to fix it in the US. They said I was number 150 on the waiting list for this part! This tells me that many other people are having problems with the alarm. Now I get to wait god knows how long before I get the part. They disabled my alarm completely so even if I wanted to use it, I can't.

Anyone else have this problem?

P.S. On another note, to the A$$hole in the orange Mazdaspeed that parked next to mine at NOPI this year, I APPRECIATE you denting my hood and if I ever find out who you are, you are going to have your a$$ kicked by a girl!

I really hate some people.

yeah a lot of people have had probs with the alarm. I havent. Thats ****** up that someone dented you hood. Do you know how they did it.

Cool te see another girl driving a mazdaspeed, got any pics?(naughty)

Got pics of me but not my car, lol.

Don't know how they dented it but there is a crease in it. Guess I just need to get a carbon fiber hood now...

Hey I had the same problem with my alarm.

Just take it to a dealer, it is the alarm module, it is under warranty. Takes about an hour for the install, and your problem is solved. It just takes them about a 1 or 2 to get the part ordered in.

Sucks about your hood.

Maybe he switched hoods with you when you weren't looking. The factory alarm is a pile. I pulled mine out the first day and put in an aftermarket one.

definate alarm problems. the damn thing won' stop going off. taking it in monday for alarm, rear skirt falling down and alignment was off from mile 1. only 255 miles on it now. all that crap aside I love the car. it drives like a slot car. 40 MPH u-turns, woooo!!!

sorry about your hood. that sux. go carbon it will look great.

yeah mine stopped working....

wanna send me your OEM one?

i still want remote door lock :(

MANY have had the alarm problem - same here. Had to replace the module. I'm going to get this car into a decent shop and have the alarm replaced - and a CRUISE CONTROL put on!

Anyone know of a decent shop in the Hackettstown/Budd Lake, Long Valley NJ area? (heck, right now I'd settle for a decent restaurant...)

Just to tell you the alarm control modules are on a gallatic back order (months and months)!!!!

Just tell them to disconnect the alarm.........it takes 2 seconds

yeah....I just had the problem this past week....I took mine in & same thing, the alarm module was backordered. Now here's the funny part (referring to customer service) - my dealership had the part overnighted to them for next morning install on my car. I would bring this up to them next time you go there. The part was overnighted from California to Philly, PA. Good luck...it's a common problem, and under warranty.

Ping...where you live at? I'm originally from the bumblefuck town of Blairstown...Figure since your up in that area you'll know where I'm talkin' about. YOu comin to the meet today?

(PS _ Sorry to threadjack)

::::waiting on pics of the blonde::::...anyways i would raise hell, they should be able to get it from another dealership or tell them to take it off another mazda on the lot..

I can't imagine what it must feel like to be a girl on this forum...my best guess is you'd feel like a piece of meat on display.

Where were you parked at NOPI? I didn't see too many orange MSPs there & I don't think I ever saw 2 right next to each other.

FuriousMoJo-- You can disconnect the alarm control module very easily........you said you tried disconnecting it but it wouldnt start, that is only half the solution.......
-disconnect alarm control module,
-remove trim panel under steering column,
-follow the jumper harness from alarm control module, you will find its like a foot long and goes to ignition switch, disconnect the connecter at the ignition switch and take the factory plug and plug in......

This is easier to explain in pictures, (this is my first time with pics so hopefully it works....)

In the pics you see a white plug right up front unplug it, you see the white plug above and behind it unplug it also, just simply plug the two together and leave out the jumper harness. Also pull out the fuse in line with the alarm control module.

Leadfoot: Yep - definitely know where Blairstown is... East Bumwash, NJ... but nice country around there and good driving/cycling roads, very pretty this time of year. Couldn't make the meet, kids had soccer, etc. etc. but at least I got a coat of Armor All on the tires (I'll take the minor "car" victories about now...)

Re/ the disconnected alarm - does that disconnection affect the remote locking or anything else, or only the alarm portion?
