HKS Racing Suction Intake installed

I looked into a couple short rams intakes after my recent hydrolock incident with the CPE CAI. I decided to go with the HKS Racing Suction Intake. I know the filter that comes with it isn't the best for filtration but thats an easy swap later on with better filters such as K&N or Apexi.

I picked the HKS intake mainly because the metal pipes themselves looked like the best quality, and man was i right. The quality is amazing, very strong and sturdy. Each metal pipe seems at least 2 or 3 times thicker to then CPE CAI pipe. Unlike the Corkport SRI, it doesn't just look like some pipes thats welded together.

Instead of using a silicon tube to change the diameter between the inlet pipe and the intake itself like the way CP-E CAI does, the metal pipe itself transitions between the inlet pipe diameter and the intake diameter. Definitely doesn't look like a homemade piece. The stainless steel and blue silicon connection tubes looks great.

Performance is pretty much the same as the CP-E CAI, i think leaving the hole open from removing the resonator box during the CAI installation helps it gather some of that cold air hehe. Its not really any louder than the CPE CAI, just sounds a little different, i think its because there are less length of metal to resonate. No CEL issue. I highly recommend this intake.

if any other cx7 owners are interested - i have TWO i'd part with at a great price. let me know.

good writeup sir

Looks good in there. Don't now about the filtration issue(s) but that style filter just looks better than a conical and I bet it filters better than an oem panel. So unless you are off roading in a desert or live on a dirt road, filtration should not be a big deal.
