I don't think you do. One of the reasons this forum pisses me off. You'd think someone would fix that.

Works for me so you can do it too. Edit post, go advanced, copy the link, click on "insert image" button and paste link. That's all there is too it.

you cant post a link to an image you uploaded in a post to show up as an img...you have to upload it to your pics in your user cp then put the link between img tags
