WTF: Radio Problem!!

So I am screwing around with the Stock Kenwood radio settings and I by accident turned it off. No big wiggle it will come back on when I stop and start the car, right? NOPE!

The only way I can get it to work again is the remove the power cable on the battery and reset the entire car.

Any thoughts on how to get the radio to turn back on? This has to be a common problem.

I had this same problem. There is a very small reset buttom on the front face. I can't remember where on the face its pretty non-discript. Its describe and shown in the manual. With the point of a ballpoint pen push in and hold for several seconds and it will reset. Because of this I always had a ballpoint pen handy. Frustrating thing is everytime it would happen all your settings would be erased.

I replace mine with an Alpine IVA-D310 Multi-Media Mobile Audio System
7 Touch Screen LCD/TV DVD/CD/IPod 30G, Sirius Satellite Radio.

Isn't the reset on the front of the face, which is not no longer available? I will take a peak at the owners manual again.

just be happy it lasted this long there have been so mnay problems with the stock head unit just replace it now and save yourself the hassle of dealing with the pos

i don't have the kenwood, i have some plain old double din black head unit. i don't see anything about it in the sticky's, whats with this bs? should i just buy and aftermarket head unit? plus my amp and sub were ripped out of the back when i bought the car. what's a good replacement system to get? i'll probly pick some stuff up at circuitcity, since i used to work there.

I fugured out how to get the face to turn around again. You have to puch on the upper left hand corner of the face and it will come on again... Wierd...

lol can anyone read?

you dont need to reset it. you figured it out clearly. you can turn the stock unit off completely and it will flip backwards (as it did).

to turn it back on, you press the upper left hand corner (as you did) and it will come back on.

what everyone else is referring to is when the headunit takes a s***. the faceplate will flip half way out and get stuck. that is when you hit the reset button. or you can hit the reset button if the unit jsut dies out of no where (but remains in the outwarding facing position).

Agreed HU is junk. I had my replaced for the 2nd time a couple months ago. Seems that they are not using that model anymore. I got some new kenwood without the flip around face junk.

No it's not. I'm guessing that you have that one because a previous owner took the kenwood out and replaced it with a cheap stocker from a non speed protege.

is there anyone else out there that has this double din size s*** i'm talkin about? ill try to take a pic soon, i dont have the car with me right now.
