new boost gauge - auto meter

yes, i have scratches on my shifter. my install is a bit dirty. i wish i had done it better. oh well.

i ran my tubing through the hood latch spot.

i knew nothing about this install until yesterday and so far, i'm pleased, but i haven't taken her out yet.

a few notes: the slider drawer thing underneath the gauge doesn't open easily and requires maneuvering. however, i think i can sand/grind down the harness that holds the gauge in a particular fashion so that said cover opens easier.
i only did this because i plan on getting an mbc and my dh will not read properly with t3h map clamp. yes, i've mentioned that, sorry for repeating it.

this gauge is only used to maintain my desired boost level, not to monitor while driving. THANKS FOR ASKING!

Doesn't look to bad there. I just got a boost gauge and have been wondering where to put it... might give that spot a look. Let us know if you fix the cover opening. I use that spot all of the time for my sunglasses and need to keep it (ash tray removed).

i also took out the ashtray. what you can do to eliminate the problem with the cover sliding up, is mount the gauge higher. instead of the cuts down toward the bottom of that cover, cut more toward the top and then the cover should slide open easily.

Hey man, that guage is a lil crooked! j/k Nice job. That sucks it's messin with the door for the ashtry. I installed my autometer in the same place and don't have that issue. I drilled my hole as close to the middle as I could eyeball. I guess you got it just a tit too low. You got a pic of how it looks at night with the blue? Here's a pic of mine at night with just white. I did go back and put an amber bulb in there and I like it a lil better, no pic of the amber though. I tried a red bulb before the amber and it just looked awful where it didn't match anything at all. The amber doesn't really match either, but i't looks a ton better regardless.

no pics yet of the blue. and yes, i think had i cut the whole in the center, i would nt have had the problem with the cover.
i put a red in there to begin with and liked it, but it didn't match the other reds...you're correct.

i'll try and get pics of the blue. the blue doesn't match either, but i have a blue led in the dome light...sooooooooo sometimes, they're on together

edit - how did you connect the gauge to the actual piece of plastic?
i used super glue

I used a 2inch hole saw to make the hole. The guage fits nice and snug in the hole. Didn't need to use anything to attach it. It's snug enough that it takes a lil force to get it pushed all the way in. No chance of it moving or coming out on its own. I've seen some guage pods come with a rubber band that you simply put on the back of the guage to keep it from sliding out. If it weren't quite as snug as it is, I'd use the rubberband method.

how wise. i should have used a hole saw that was actually the size of the hole, but i didn't get my hole saw bits until i realized how much work cutting the hole would have been with my dremel.

i couldn't use the bit to make the pilot hole cause of where i had cut already with the dremel. so i got creative, made a hole and bore(d) it out

Hehe, the thought crossed my mind to just dremel that bad boy out, but I have trouble drawing a round circle on paper, so I decided against it. I did have to dremel some of the plastic on the back side of the "whatever the piece we put a hole in is called".

hahaha, yeah. there is no room for this gauge unless you cut all that plastic in the back.

only problem with it, is trying to watch the gauge and the road at the same time. What you should do is turn the gauge, so that your highest reading it directly up, that way under boost you will be able to see what your boost hit alittle faster then trying to read, you will be able to tell left or right of the high boost mark.

I mounted mine on the a-pillar with double sided tape and wire loom. Didn't want to drill holes in the stock a-pillar.

Wish I could do that, but the GT has side curtains there and I don't want a gauge flying at my head propelled by a small explosive charge in the middle of an accident! (peep)

sport has them too and side curtains are on your left side when you sit above doors no where he mounted boost gauge there was pic of crashed ms3 that is showing that.....
