New Mazda5 owner here

Hi everyone,

Just want to say hi! Got new Canadian version GS about 2 weeks ago. Love the car (or should I say van or MAV?)

This is my 3rd Mazda. Previously 98 protege (1 yr pre-owned) then new 03 protege now new GS. All are great cars to drive (except of course the paper thin paint job, therefore both cars in the garage have hood guard, courtesy of the dealership )all from the same dealership too)

Only drawback was when I took delivery on that Saturday, they had already scratched both corners of the front bumper and it needed to be repainted (done last week, can't see any difference now).

Last car was a Mercedes C280, loved the car but not insurance premium and premium gas it needed.

Glad the 2008 model gets the auto headlight and wipers which worked great last week when I drove in rather heavy rain on the highway at 5 a.m.

Welcome and looking forward to see some pics (naughty).

I've seen several car trades lately looking for more economic, less "premium" type automobiles, but still nice looking, spacey and a blast to drive, which is what the Mazda5 is all about. Of course is not a Ferrari nor a Lexus, but does its job well I think

If you don't mind, how willing was the dealer to move on MSRP? Which leads to my next question, what was your OTD price, details?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the warm welcome. In terms of the price (Canadian), the GS base + auto climate control + auto tranny + Freight & PDI, they dropped from the MSRP by $950 and installed the hood guard and rear bumper protection rubber (included in price, which they said would have cost me about $200 installed). Then I said I really wanted to tint it so they throw in a cheque of $150 to pay half the tint. Can't remember the eact OTD price 'cause it was a rather lenghty calculation with the trade in.

I know I probably didn't get the best price but there was also no long waiting time for them to come back and agreed to my bargained figures. Aother dealership agreed to drop the MSRP by $1200 but my trade was valued $800 (plus 13% tax) less.

Car drives really comfortably and 'friendly'.

First time ever own a mazda(I am honda owner all my life).

The downside is, my car won't get deliver till Late june or early july (flame)cause I wanted the white with leather and it isn't any white one with leather available in canada now, so it need to be order from japan.

Hi Congrats on your new car!! I too ordered the 08 in White GT and leather package here in Toronto, and yes, this color is hard to find. I've been waiting for 7 weeks now, and finally picking it up on Wednesday. Can't wait.

So Henika youre also from Toronto and have a white 5 like me, only diff is mine is an 07 GT 5MT dont tell me yours is 5MT too ? Havents seen too many white5s here in Scarborough area, a lot of galaxy grey and black ones.

Congrats ! Same here as well, we just ordered 08 GT Leather in PSilver and it's been 3 weeks now. Last time I checked , it's already in Vancouver.

White and Platinum silver are the two nicest colours in my opinion...Good choice (thumb)

Yes, from Toronto, and I'm picking up my 08 White GT tonight. Accept mine is an Auto. Wife doesn't drive manual. I've only seen one white 07 GT around.

Yeah so few whites I have not seen even 1. Maybe the one youve seen is me(burnout). Mine is the one with the aluminum antenna and silver Sokudo10 wheels

Just curious, to all who bought a new Mazda 5 in the Toronto area or Canada, did they wax your car before you picked up the car? I picked mine up, but was dissapointed that they did not wax the car before they gave it to me. The previous cars I bought new were always waxed.
