Hoooookay, so i went down to Sherman-Williams and talk to the guys there about wanting to mat black my stock rims and satin fuel door. They told me that i could achieve really good results with rattle cans, and the choice of mat black made it all the easier. So i bought some stuff and i want to double check with you guys before i screw my car up too badly. Ive got duplicolor primer, and scotch pads for the sanding. They told me to wash the wheels very well first, then dry them. Sand with red scotch pads and wash and dry again. Lay down two coats of primer, let dry, and then sand with the grey pads. Wash and dry. Then to start in with the Duplicolor mat black. Light even coats with about 45 minutes of dry time in between and finish up with about three coats. Let dry for at least 24 hours before putting them back on the car. This is a temp job just to get me through a few month till i can get some rims. The fuel door kinda worries me because this one needs to last. Thoughts? Concerns? Advice?
