Mazda 626 Turbo

Hey whats going on... I am a honda guy but just recently bought a 88 626 turbo because I needed a cheap car and got it for 350 bucks (115k miles).... but after buying it I realized the thing actually has some power lol but anyway I was wondering if anyone on this forum is familiar with them and can tell me what upgrades I could do to it that are relatively cheap... I know they sell a chip on ebay for the 2.2 motor but it says 89-9? mines and 88 I was wondering if it would work or where I could get one because on google I read that the ecu only allows 12.6 pounds of boost if anyone can help me out id appreciate it thanks NiCk

mx6.com will tell u anything about ur car. i have done a F2T swap to my 626 and i love it. i have a probinator chipped ECU and i plan on running 12 psi with a boost controller

You'll definitely need a chip to run more than 15psi but installing a controller, upgraded filter, and custom exhaust with 2.5" piping back to an upgraded muffler will make the car more responsive. AWR makes some suspension pieces for the car. A few cams are available. HKS used to make an intercooler pipe set. There's a more tricks that you can do to make it a sleeper.

i have an 88 626 turbo myself and i LOVE IT ... i raced my buddy who has a 90 convertible Rx7 S5 JDM Turbo II swapped engine and he ported it and what not and the 626 with nothing from downpipe back kept up with him with NO problem (cept driver error with shifting ) (raced him on day i got it and wasnt used to the long shifter lol) ... but anyways ... should try to find a turbo from an rx7 and slap that puppy on there and with the probinator and larger injectors and a nice BOV and Walbro255lph fuel pump you should hit 250hp easily and maybe more !
