Get to install my HKS finally

I ordered my recirce adapter from *************** today. it'll be here tomorrow gotta love ups and over night shipping. i can't wait. i already have a cobb SRI so i'm interested to see how it sounds if any in recirc mode. I bought the HKS SSQ blow off valve the day the redesigned it with the fins on the side of the body and new silver body instead of the classic smooth chrome finish. I saw someone post on here whats the difference in the HKS's so here's a detail on the life of the SSQ in short.

LONG time ago the HKS company revolutionized the turbo industry with the first ever HKS super sequential blow off valve. see pic. below. this valve one a first of it's kind design using a pull style dual functioning valve the worked great flowed great and was almost garanteed never to leak under boost compared to the then and still popular but i believe way out dated push style and plunger style. here's some pics of the very first every HKS SSQ BOV back then they still used the same style flange that is still used today.

here's the infamous and long time used redisgned AT THE TIME IT CAME OUT HKS SSQ. it still used the same concept just now with a sleeker smooth chrome body and better internals. HKS also when this valve first came out put a adjuster screw on the end of the BOV. Later HKS redesigned the valve and made it so the screw was not needed and actually the adjuster screw was causing their valves to fail and prematurely go up so HKS ditched the screw. this pic below the the one that was used for a long time and was what first gave HKS their signiture chirp or mouse sneeze as i call it.

here's the same valve but this is when HKS ditched the adjuster screw. there is no difference in the two valve hks got rid of the adjuster because of the problems it was causing but all in all it's the same valve and you can still find the one above and this one and some online stores. most companies have since switched to the one i'm about to talk about since it's now discontinued but here it is

this is the BOV i have and the latest and greatest from HKS. NOW THERE IS ALMOST NO DIFFERENCE FROM THE VALVE ABOVE WITHOUT THE ADJUSTER SCREW AND THIS BOV. if you get or have a knock hks BOV with the adjuster screw if you have a knock off bov shame on you for buying junk it will only end up leaking on you and you'll be posting on here on why your car doesn't boost as good as it use to. HKS STOPPED USING THE ADJUSTER screw years ago. Now i talked to HKS directly months ago when the redesigned SSQ first came out and they said there is almost no difference in the new BOV then the stlye pictured above. i believe the new one is made to flow alittle better and internally i think is alittle bigger or better BUT the main thing and this is a biggie the reason why HKS redesigned the outside was because of all these companies bringing out knock off junk replicas that may sound the same but in the long run and even short run do not perform like a real HKS. all the internal adapters for recirc. sound fins etc. are all interchange able from the older style chrome bodied valve they will fit the newer style silver finned valve pic below

ok hope this explains something for those that wonder what the difference is between the two. there is no difference just the look of the outside. EXCEPT if you have one with a adjuster screw on it then i'd look into getting a new one because per HKS that screw causes problems. to me i love the HKS's they sound great it's too loud for some and yes the new one above IS LOUDER then the older one. i had both on my SRT4 and i can tell you my new one was louder to me. but do you research. if i didn't have to run our BOV's recirc the only other BOV i like is the greddy type-S but they don't make them anymore and the type-RS that replaced it sounds like crap. TAiL is the only other BOV i like thats a great quality BOV that flows the best but TAiL hasn't come out with one that you can run as a recirc valve so us MAF guys are screwed unless you have EMS that you can tune your car to run a open BOV. ALSO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. Stop asking about VTA or recirc. just buy the damn thing that you want BUT also get one that can be run as a recirc unit also. I highly suggest running all MAF'd cars specially MS3's with stock PCM's or EMS to run recirc thats the down side to owning a MAF car but i have seen some MS3's run ok with VTA BOV's and i've seen ALOT that don't run good with VTA BOV's. just buy one that can do both or be run as either or so in case you can't run it VTA and hear that whoosh noise you newbie F&F turbo guys that wanna double clutch like paul walker. suck it up there's many options out there to make your ears happy just do your home work and research and enough with the VTA questions.

ok i'm going home and i'm all done for now. but as of now the only way i know to safely run a bov VTA is with a chiped ECU like what cobb tuner is coming out with ( chiped can mean reflashed also ) or running some kind of EMS/stand alone that you can hand tune the car yourself and tell it your not running it or need it recirc'd anymore
