Stock dyno run! 253 HP and 283 TQ

Wanted to see how much the car was dynoing stock before I put on some mods. These two were the best of 4 pulls. The first run I did (which is out of order on the dyno sheet) we had a small fan blowing on the front of the car pointed closer to the radiator.

The best run I had was when we put the fan on a box and had the air come in through the air ducts to the intercooler. We had lower intake temps and 10 more whp and tq.

The hood was closed each time, and all pulls were done in 4th. As you can see the A/F readings are under what his meter would read(eek2)... Right past 4k rpms the A/F went below 10.1

Sorry about the pic my scanner is broke so I took pics of the sheet.

The other two pulls that I did were right after the good pulls and the intercooler was heat soaked on those. They were about 30 to 40 whp and tq lower.

Those numbers and you're stock? Not even a CAI or anything? That's crazy.

100% stock nothing done for power. Well I do have shifter bushings..lol... He was shocked as much as I was.

The guy has the dyno in his poll barn next to his house. He gave me directions to get out there and was like 10 miles away from everything. I pulled onto the street he was at, and it was a private drive with a house and a poll barn. I was like (huh) He has the dyno for tuning his spec miatas. He races in the scca, and his cars are really cool.

Why is this so shocking to everyone? Sport Compact Car Magazine got 250whp and 280wtq on a stock MS3. It's obvious that the car was underrated. My '03 Mustang Mach 1 was underrated by about 20hp from the factory when I got it dynoed stock. Lot's of performance cars are underrated from the factory. Some say it's to keep insurance costs down on whatever that particular model is. Hell, even the SRT-4's were underrated.

I'm not asking people to believe me. I don't care if they do I'm just sharing my dyno to the forum. If you don't belive it then fine. I don't care, I just posted the dyno because I was shocked at the numbers. I plan to dyno after each mod and use it as a tuning device. The numbers are cool and all but they are just numbers and I plan to improve on them and document what does what.

I wish I did this with my last car but an awd dyno is way too far away from me.

With that much WHP and Torque, you should be able to run high 13s and trap at around 104-105mph. That should tell the tale of accuracy on that dyno. I wish my Speed 6 had those numbers. I guarantee it's not even close. Definitely 25 lower on each without question. You got yourself a freak of nature bone stock Speed 3 if that is accurate. I suggest heading out to track. Seriously, with those numbers, high 13s is not gonna be very difficult with the right launch. Your trap speed should surpass any magazine times as well. That will end all the doubts. :)

Personally, I feel the dyno is either very generous, or the car is not 100% bone stock. Doesn't take much to make a Speed 3 run the dyno. EVen the smallest of mods can do it. :)

Yep, lol. The car probably made more than 320 Ftlbs stock at the motor. Definately an underrated vehicle.

Thats cool, just tells me more so that I have atleast 300hp and tq.

Then get out there and run your 13s at 105+mph with the mods you have. Dyno is just a measurement and there are MAJOR discrepencies and variations depending on the dyno. You might only push 230whp on another dyno. What really matters is what you do at the track. I'd love to say that my Speed 6 has 250whp bone stock, but even if I ran that on a dyno, I'd stop and say, hmmm, this dyno is probably quite friendly. You should have no problem trapping well above magazine times if your car is bone stock, so that will verify the dyno result. IMO a dyno is useless without then taking it on the track and running it. Good Luck. :)

I agree, but I don't want to go to the track until I complete a few more things. Like a few strut bars and a tuning solution. And maybe the upgraded tmic.
