New Exhaust!

So I want to put a MSP exhaust that I bought through a forum member on my 99 protege. My question is, do I need to buy new gaskets, and how much do I torque down the flanges. Below pics of 2 gaskets that were on Advanced Auto's site for my car, but I think the MSP exhaust is slightly bigger than the stock so I am not sure if these gaskets will even work. Does anyone know? Can I just take the pipe to Advanced and get them to fit one? Also, will the larger s-pipe fit on the smaller stock J-pipe, or do I need to get some adaptor? Thankx(smash)

what parts of the msp exhaust did you get? that will determine what you need and how it will mount up.

neither of the gaskets in the pics work. The donuts on is for the front of the midpipe and the one with 3 holes sound be where the header and 1st cat connect (i think). When I put that same exhaust on my car I used the stock gaskets but I only had like 3k miles on the car. As for the piping everthing fits together fine. Actually isnt it the same size? Can someone verify that.

well, niether of those gaskets are the ones you need. you actually need two of mazda part number FSB8-40-305 - one for the mid-pipe to s-pipe, and one for the s-pipe to axel back.

and, thats the same part for all 3rd gens. that exhaust will bolt right up to your cat/mid-pipe.

Thanks. Do you think a dealership woud have those parts in stock? Or would advanced have them if I went there?

Are the part numbers you are talking about for the protege exhaust or MSP?

The gasket should be the same for both cars. Its something small the dealer may stock it, you'll just have to call around.
