Intercooler Sprayer

If you guys dont think a sprayer would help you are nuts. I just did a few dyno pulls on Saturday. After the FIRST pull and a two minute delay inbetween the heat soak with the stock TMIC was HORRIBLE. I lost about 10whp/15wtq just from heat soak. For the third run the shop sprayed the TMIC with water and I got my best pull of the day.

BTW I have a CP-E Intake. Also Dyno Dynamics dynos read lower than mustangs, dynojets etc. This shop did not use ANY correction. So my numbers arent inflated. No fan was on the TMIC either

Oh I know it will help. Nothing like that.....just not "needed" at this point in time for me. :)

Its needed if you hate heat soak LOL. I just cant afford the sprayer for awhile :)

I figure if I go to the track ill just get a bag of ice, poke some holes in it and spray the i/c with water before each run.

^ You wont gain much from what I saw. The dyno I was on does read lower than all other types, but still.. One MS3 had the mazdaspeed CAI, and a turbo xs race pipe. He dynoed 220whp/267tq

I got 221/257

and the stock MS3 in our local club got 213/253. However the powerbands were better with mods

Oh man...I hate that. We dynoed our S2000 once and got 196 or something. What did you have done at the time of your dyno???

werent the ms3's getting about 230 whp? average

That is what I thought....but I am sure it depends on each car. That is why I don't want to get mine dynoed. Fear I will be mad with the results.

i wont dyno till i get full exhaust to compliment my intake (drive)

Depends on the dyno you use. I had a CP-E CAI. Like I stated before three of us dynoed that day in the local car club with MS3's

MS3 with Mazdaspeed CAI, Turbo XS race pipe : 220whp/267wtq
MS3 with CP-E CAI(me) : 221whp/257wtq
MS3 stock : 213whp/253wtq

We were on a Dyno Dynamics Dynamometer. The shop I went to explained they do not do any SAE corrections because if you dont do it right, it can artificially inflate your numbers. He also said not to believe parts companies when they say "our product adds 30whp, see our dyno sheet" because they can inflate the numbers all they want to.

Also a Dynojet, Mustang Dyno and other dynamometers read higher than the one we were on, and it proved correct seeing as how each of our cars ran on the same Dyno.

http://www.dyno.com.au/dyno/controller

Its better to dyno when you are stock just for a baseline. Then you add mods and see what you get, but use the SAME dyno. Like i stated before the same car can read two completely sets of numbers because each dyno is different.

The shop owner told how how he tuned a 04 cobra and got 438whp out of it with NO corrections. The same car then dynoed at another shop here in mn www.dbptuning.com and got 476whp. Now why was that? They were even the same brand dyno.. Reason was because db put in an sae correction factor. LSE put that factor into his run at their shop, and looky here they came up with 477whp for his car.

A sprayer on the IC is a waste of money, unless your racing from Stop light to stop light........... Why because first off MS3's suck from the dig (check sig) and second once the car is going theres plenty of air cooling the IC. Ever check the IC after a fast blast down the road, its very cool to the touch.

Now if you plan on always sprying the IC with water at a stoplight just to have every ounce of REGULATED power in the first 3 gears then by all means go for it. OR if you want to show inflated dyno numbers then go for it.
A more efficient IC will make more power. If anything the sprayer gives you back what you MAY have lost from heat soak.

WASTE OF MONEY. Now get a AWIC as i said before, then you'll make more power.

Well first off, why would you spray it at a stoplight? Youre supposed to be spraying it while air is moving through it. Get the best of both worlds, spray the IC while moving and go meth injection to cool the charge even more.
