297whp Wolf 3d EMS Dyno *vids

Dynoed 296whp @ 14-15psi aprox. Started pinging for anything over 17psi on 93 octane, problems starts here...injectors are maxed out, probably turbo is going out of efficiency area, intercooler is too small. Previously it had problems keeping steady boost because it had leaks on the manifold, that was corrected and now is holding ok.

... cracked ring lands* on the stock pistons on the fourth run. Will now install forged CP 8.5:1 and bigger injectors.

- Well, heres the video of the first dyno, a generic safe map of 14deg max advance. I had to left the scene before the tunner finished with it...had to go to work right away. It was running @12psi w/ 262WHP in the autometer gauge, still need to check the logs. The maps in the 1st post shows some backfiring caused by wiring issues...see how if freaked the Dyno numbers on some pulls. Still needs the fine tunning which will be done on february.

Dynoed 170whp. Setup was a stock protege ES manifold with WRX turbo and intercooler, Perfect Power SMT6 with extra injector. More info, dyno, pics and videos: Click here

so the bumps where the misfires? very very nice numbers.

it sounds like a beast. nice linear powerband. hows it feel on the street?

Wolf3D, i know someone using that on his turbo rx7. good work on applying it here!

Well, its running only 12psi, it has some nice topend, pulls really hard on top.
The P&P on the head was done by a machine shop in Caguas, PR. Pictures doesnt do justice, it looks really nice, no headflow measurements.

Here are some of the Wolf3D screenshots.

Hey man, we been trying to get some parts from you for both this protege and my 323. We ended up getting them thru ebay and locally.

The boost is screwed because he's using a XS Power wastegate. Get something decent and then try to tune it. Those pistons are still stock compression, they just had the pin bore enlarged to 19mm right? With a better WG and manifold you'll see some nice numbers.

You PR guys are nuts, good to see more progress w/ the FSDE.

wow.... those r fckng nice numbers. That would be a beast. When you guys decide to go to the track, let me know. i want to see that baby race.....

Manifold? whats wrong with it? its a cast iron full tubular.

The wastegate is cheap, but its ok, will put a stiffer spring then we will see. Even the turbo is the chinese turbocharger, but its working!

Nice numbers. I'd love to hear more info on this Wold 3d... is it full standalone, DIY like megasquirt?

And oh yea, what are you doing about tranny/lsd concerns?

I've been gone awhile but are people still eating up 3rd gear around 300hp? Welding LSD's and tranny coolers helping any?

Are you using the Wolf reluctor interface 2 (not 1)?
No, we are doing the diodes thing. Although its making those backfires which is either the tunning, or weak signal from the crank sensor.

Nice numbers! what gear were you in? 3rd or 4th?
Vids are in 3rd gear, im not sure if those dynos in the top are in 3rd or 4th gear.

Its a standalone, but you can recalibrate the sensors input to fit any sensor you want. Nothing done to the trans, stock open diff, stock gears.

sorry about that, must have missed your PM a while back :( call me on my cell or email me if you need anything else and i will help you out

Yeah, I get a timing error (burps and staggers) every 20s or so with the diodes at low rpms. I guess the signal is too weak because when I disconnect the stock ECU the timing errors go away and it runs perfect. If you can log timing at high speed you can verify the problem by looking for the dips in numbers. I have thought about putting a resistor in parallel across the pins to drop the overall resistance, but I am afraid it might overload the sensor. I may just go with a reluctor interface and call it good.

I don't see 297 hp on any of those dyno sheets? Spikes on a dyno are not caused by backfires. It looks to me like the ignition pickup for the dyno is set-up wrong.

A spike downward is usually missfire or detonation. I spike upward is feedback with the ignition pickup.

It looks to me on the red run that your peak hp is around 250 (at 75mph, of course mph is really useless) and you peak torque is around 210.

We already know that. the CTS signal is weak and shared. I dont have the 297whp because I left the dyno before he upped the boost and dynoe it. But I have the 1st dyno chart when we raised the boost and the tunner started tunning it. It only has a curve for the first few rpms and with a nice takeoff from the previous 11-12psi dyno.

It sounds right anyway, at 11-12psi it gave 263whp if i remember correctly, add 4psi with the 10hp/psi rule and will give 303whp.

Ill try to find it today. The tunner will have the car from the 29th to feb 11 to take those issues.

Here are the dynos, as you can see the greenline, it already had 255whp @ 5300rpms, it also has other plots showing the crankpickup issue.

Trying to upload another video clip showing the engine jerking a bit, and some wheelspin (stupid tires) on the dyno. For those, I dont have the sheets but had too many issues with starting the car and keeping a steady boost. Nothing could be done that day
