The Simota filter works and I have proof!

Many people have been worried about the effectiveness of the simota intake filter. I am taking my car into the dealer tomorrow so I took the imy simota intake out and checked the inside of the filter. I have been driving through a constuction zone, that is more like off roading with all the dust that flies around, for about 6 months. You can imagine what this does to a filter. The outside of my filter is filthy see pic 1 but the inside is clean see pic 2. The maf housing was completely clean as well so I think it is safe to say the filter is working. I just washed off the outside of the filter with some water, let it dry and I am ready to put it back in. No oil.

cool man.
thanks for the review. i am in the group buy and i will be getting the CAI first week of May

Thanks man. What kind of intake are you getting. I would definately recommend the simota sri. especially after driving around with the stock intake on. It provides a dramatic increase in torque and acceleration and it sounds awesome. My car feels so weak now, I can't wait to put the intake back in. My butt dyno loves it.

im getting the CAI which should bring even cooler air in.
i cant wait till it gets here.

yeah i pulled mine out and just took some compressed air and blew all the crap off the filter from the inside... and i checked my maf and piping as well and everything looked clean to me... then again wouldn't it all just get sucked into the engine and burned up anyways?

I feel the same about my simota...I am not sure if its a good way to compare, but I held it up the the light to see if there was any spots the light shined through, like weak spots or something, and I did it with my KN as well...the simota looked identicle as far as that went... now a ebay filter that came with a cai I got off ebay was a whole different story...

If dust was getting in I think it would still adhere to the inside of the filter and the walls of the rubber tube, much like dust sticks on your car even if you are going 100 mph. I rubbed the inside of the tube with a clean cloth and there was nothing on it. I love this intake and I am glad that I don't have to worry about hydrolock. I heard the Injen was pretty bad about sucking up water even in small puddles.

You heard wrong it doesn't suck up water in small puddles. Water leaks from the fender/hood gap of the sedan and the water can get into the intake and stay in the U bend of the pipe.

Yeah, that would still worry me, I have a sedan. Do you have the injen. I didn't even realize simota made a CAI for the mazda 3.

Simota calls it a "Twin-Charger" intake. Click on GB link in my sig if you want to see more infor about it.

I had an Injen i have a AEM right now.

Protephile i thought you also had a normal Simota CAI in the GB too?
