Hi,
I have a Hiboost FMIC and I would like to buy a CAI (Cold air intake). I have a very great deal with a AEM CAI. Is it compatible with my FMIC or the best fit is a INJEN CAI.

Do you have pictures of your setup with a AEM CAI !

I have the AEM CAI, i just ordered a Hiboost FMIC. And i was told by the dealer (Protege Garage.com) That it would work properly. Once i get everything installed i will post pics, but you will probably have an answer by then.

I would like to see pictures of your AEM CAI set-up as well. Do you have pictures of your set-up the way it is now because I have zero modifications thus far, so seeing it with the FMIC isn't all that important to me. I am a huge fan of AEM and can't understand why most people on here have the Injen CAI?! The one from Protege Garage.com, is it actually the CAI or the Short Ram? The price is about $40 less than most are selling the AEM CAI for. Thanks!

The Injen CAI came out at least a year before the AEM did. Has anyone compared the sound of and AEM to the INGEN? May be a dumb question since there both similar in design.

As soon as i can get my hands on a camera, i will probably gonna be a little dirty cause i have yet to clean it with the weather and the hours i have been working.

Hey...
I just received an AEM CAI that I ordered from TireRack.com! I am going to put it on tomorrow after I clear up from traffic court. So, if I can, I will try and post some pictures as well =) As with you, I have to either use someone elses digital camera or take old school pictures, get them developed and then scan them...

AEM CAI Pictures on a stock MSP motor

Here are pictures of an AEM CAI installed on a stock MSP... if anyone wants more pictures of the AEM CAI please let me know and I will try to take them for you. Also, I am going to try and get a video with sound for those who want to know what it sounds like. I've only had it on for 24 hours, but it seems that the colder the air temperature the louder the AEM CAI gets.

AEM CAI video/audio on a stock MSP motor

I now have some video/audio of what the AEM CAI sounds like on a stock MSP motor. I took the video with my digital camera while driving so the quality isn't that great. However, you can still hear what the CAI sounds like from inside the car. You have to view the video with either Kodak Easy Share software or Quicktime because it is in ".mov" format. Windows Media Player won't play it. So, if you want to hear what the AEM CAI sounds like, send me a PM with your E-mail address and I will send the files to you.

i could never get my aem cai to fit right, its always either not sitting flush on the turbo, rubbing the fan, or rubbing the hole that goes into the wheel well. anyone else have this problem?

D) All of the above

ANSWER D) ALL OF THE ABOVE

I had a huge problem with the fit. AEM should have suggested to put the front end on jack stands and take the drivers front wheel off too. I worked for 5+ hours trying to get the CAI to fit perfect and believe that it's just not possible without removing a whole bunch of other stuff to get room to work. Mine is still rubbing on the fan housing (not the actual fan) and the hole going into the fender well. I can't see being able to get the clearance that AEM suggests between the fan housing and the intake pipe because there just isn't enough room. I also had a problem with the whole BOV assembly and the hoses that attach to it. I just got it to fit the best I could and left it. That might not have been the most correct thing to do, but it doesn't seem to be causing a problem other than some rubbing noise from the last section of pipe going into the fender well. If anyone has some suggestions I would love to hear them as well

since i couldnt get mines to fit good so i converted it to sri. the problem with that was

1. the coolant overfill bottle was in the way
2. the filter was resting on the body

so i ghetto rigged it by picking up a pvc elbow and now it fits fine. doesnt touch anything and its not really getting hot air from the radiator fan. heres some pics.

That's a good idea actually. I needed to try and work out a SRI intake for the winter here in Virginia anyway. I guess you only have to worry about monsoon season :) Thanks!
