Anyone have MP3 springs on stock struts?

Anyone here have stock struts with mp3 springs? I was wondering if you had to do the washer fix for the klunking. The raidermp5 mobile is getting some this weekend, making sure I install them if needed.


EDIT: I installed them, and they are great. Subtle drop, alot better handling as well.

I ran MP3 springs for a long time without any issues with the stock struts. They aren't enough of a drop to effect anything.
 
I was hoping that. I searched, found the problems with the Teins and Eibachs, but those drop more than MP3 springs. You would not happen to have pics to post of what the drop I can expect would be, would you? I cannot lower too much (garage entrance is steep), so MP3's seems cool, as they are not a lot, and better than stock.

I have the Tokico HP suspension kit on my ES, which I believe is the same as the MP3 set-up. Drop is around an inch. You can look at my avatar to get an idea of how much it is. I like it, it's enough to get rid of the fender gap above the stock rims without dropping it so much I have to worry about every little bump in the road. I installed the Mazdaspeed front/rear sways at the same time and handling is awesome even with the stock Dunlops. Toyo Proxes on the way, I am expecting great things.
 
No ground clearance issues with mine, that was the deciding factor for me to get the MP3 springs. The 1st pic is with the car loaded down a LOT.

yeah, I think down the road Tokiko HPs will be planned. Pics look decent. I am runnin gon 17's, so it will be pretty good I think.
 
The aftermarket wheels in the pics are 17x7.5 subzero's. The MP3 springs are a great compromise.
 
i have 17 x 7 rims, and it looks ok now, but could use help:

thanks for your advice, Mike. The pic heavily loaded helps too. i haul dogs, and Sam's club in my car, cannot deal with being slammed.
 
No problem. I've never rubbed in the rear, even with the 17's and all the crap I put in the car....2 kids, the wife and all their stuff adds up. The woody does way better for the Costco runs though :)
 
i got a 42 offset, but i also have access to a fender roller, so I will knock that problem out of the equation just in case.

I so want a big old estate wagon. Those rock. I want the one model with the skylights up top. A friend of mine had one, was fun. 3 MPG tho.
 
LOL, Get Buick Roadmaster with an LT1. Awesome car. Or an old school Roadmaster.

Even with my wagon running as rich as it is it still pulls down 17-18. And is pretty quick, it's in the low 15, high 14 second range. Should be able to get low 14's and 24 mpg with some tuning and transmission work. But, it's gonna be more of a road/autocross trackwhore when I'm done with it.
 
I had MP3 Springs on the stock suspension. About a 27% increase in stiffness. Nice linear rate feel. Matches nicely to the stock suspension.

I did have the rear washer fix for them. I still do on my current setup. Better safe than sorry.

Did 2 years of track days and went though 2 winters on them.

Go for it. Pair them up with nice shocks/struts if you can.

And there is more of a drop on the rear than the front, but functionally they worked great.

his estate wagon had a 454 in there, big ol carbs, headers, etc. It was just not tuned i think. Ran like a mofo, though!
