Spool Turbo Installed: HELP!

The turbo is definitely upside down. As already stated, the round hole should be at the top (oil in), the square at the bottom (oil out).

As for my oil deal, I'm almost complete with my latest "fix". Hopefully it works, but I basically have too much oil pressure to the turbo, or maybe some bad seals. I built a new feed line with a gauge and a pressure regulator, I can now vary my psi to the turbo easily. Have not driven it yet, but an intial test in my garage looks promising.

As far as this car overboosting, I'm concerned that no one can think of a reason why. (Note: I'm clueless at this point as well).

Igdrasil, can you post some pics of your wastegate (including the vacuum lines).

yo whats up dude,
alot of responces allready are right on target. the turbo needs to be clocked.
 cant understand how or why it came like that. not that you cant do it but damn it is completely opposite.
as far as boost is concerned. thats a little ****** up because if you were boostin to 20 psi you would have some serous issues. not to say your not but there could be a different problem like a false reading. but any way
the vacuum line on the side of your wastegate needs to mounted to the COMPRESSOR outlet. im not sure with this kit but the turbo should have a thread already there. right by the intercooler pipe coming from the outlet or right on the compressor housing face.
the fmu and BOV vacuum line NEEDS to be mounted to the UPPER part of the intake manifold. any line there will do but i recommend the brake booster. it has a constant feed.
now ARE RUNNING ANY MANUAL BOOST CONTROLL DEVICES??
where is the voltage clamp vac line routed to?
did spoolin get you that reducer??

allright i just saw your turbo pic.
the barb that comes from the compressor housing is where the wastegate NEEDS to go.
confirm this and we can go from there

Hello,

If you are using a Turbonetics wastegate there are two ports. One in the upper cap which reads vaccum and another one on the side of the lower cap which reads Boost.

You should run the line from the barb in the compressor housing to the side of the wastegate port that reads "boost".
If you are using a TIAL, you should do the same. Run it to the port in the side not the one on top.

I hope this helps.

Juan

Well, I changed all the vacumms.

Now im runing a direct vacuum line from the compressor to the wastegate only, is dedicated for that now.
Still overboosting, but as soon as I see 10psi I regulate the gas pedal to go lower and the car runs fine.

Now Im using the vacumm from the manifold to feed the FMU, BlowOff, and Boost gauge. I will be hooking on monday the EGT and Voltage clamp.

Still have serious smoke, when idling for more than 1 minute, its white, but on instant idle is blue, then it fades and white comes up.
Will post pics...

Vacuums from inatake mani to FMU, BlowOff and Boost gauge.
Will be hooking the clamp here too.

From that picture, it looks like you have the vacuum line hooked up to the wrong spot. HiBoost said it correctly. You need to hook up the line to the "boost fitting" which is on the side of the wastegate, not the one on the front. The one on the front needs to be left vented to atmosphere. NO PLUG, NO LINE. So switch those lines and try it.

Overboost Solved.

It was that boost line I hooked wrong. (hand)
Now the car pulls stronger and clutch slips like hell, revs comes too fst in 1st gear!

I now running 2.5 all the way to the exhaust no cats no resonator. The car is a bit louder than what I Like. But sure is not THAT civic loudness.

I will take a video soon!

There ya go. Gotta be careful w/ this stuff and take your time. And don't drive the car until you get the O2 voltage clamp working.

All the test drives I did around was without the clamp. But I will hook that thing tomorrow morning.
Im watching A/F readings with the greddy. What I fear now Is that I dont wanna dammage the sensors because of that oil leak getting burned in the exhaust. The Exhaust tip is oil wet.

Yes, everything stock

yeah I'm only I/E with a clutchmasters stage I and fidanza flywheel, dropped the clutch for the first time and it pulled a lightbulb from my headlight socket, and ripped the transmission linkage down from the cabin, it was hilarious, the car hauled ass tho, lol. The linkage I fixed with a couple bolts, and the headlight bulb I made sure was good and tight, but yeah the clutch makes a hell of a lot of difference.

voltage clamp installed!

Now the greddy is giving me GOOD NUMBERS!
I must recall. Th VOLTAGE CLAMP IS NEEDED!!!!!

jajajaj something funny just happened today, I wanted to see how 5th gear runs....

At aprox 4,500rpm, the clutch will slip bad...

not playing w the clutch, just WOT, when it pass 4500rpm, slips to 6k in an instant.

NEED A CLUTCH

this is discouraging news as I didn't want to have to pick up a clutch just yet

Well, you will need it if you are going to push the car a lot.
I dont power shift, I just push hard until 6k rpm then shift slow, engage, push a bit of gas then WOT...and so on, clutch will not slip.

Anyway my clutch I think has some wear because I learned manual shifting with this car. And I use it a lot to keep the car from backing up in a stopof a hill.

Updates!!!

1. Turbo oil feed is fixed, NO MORE SMOKE!!!

2. JoeP MBC installed, but is boosting 10psi, tried to lower the boost on the wastegate to 5psi. still boosting 10 psi, so I disconected it.

3. As far as about the stock clutch, Its holding good enough for 6psi. from 1st gear to 4th. Will slip on 5th @ about 4500 rpm.

4. Have an issue that I need to talk to spoolin, I think his email account is with AOL and Im having problems emailing him.

5. Greddy EGT connected on the downpipe, I see 620C max cruising. What temperatures should I watch with the probe connected at 1-1/2 inches after the turbo exit?
