ok guys and dolls...

i just ordered the Apexi Power Filter w/ 70mm flange, and what i'm gonna do is use the silicone elbow and initial piping for an Injen CAI, and turn it into a SRI w/ the Apexi filter after the MAF. thinking i'll just pop a hole in the silicone piping for the air temp sensor (in between the MAF and the filter)- if anyone has a better idea lemme know on that. i'll post pics and info when it all gets installed. (thumb)

Good choice... the Apexi filter is the s***. I have been running a SRI with that same filter/flange for well over a year now, and couldn't be happier with it.

About the AIT sensor... there is a nice hole in the drivers fender area that the grommet from the injen CAI will fit into perfectly. Just put the grommet in the hole, and then stick the sensor into that. Fits perfect, no need to extend any wiring, and works great. I will snap a pic for you later of mine.

yeah thatll be cool to post a pic... also, you have a p5 or MSP?

Ok, here is how I had it set up at first with the AITS stuck into the silicone coupler:

Pics of the new setup coming in the next post...

Here is how it is now...

The red circle in the first pic shows where the hole is, and the second pic is a close up from the same angle. Let me know if you have any questions about the setup.

actually- because your car is black its a little hard to see where its plugged into. can u elaborate a little, or maybe break out the ultra flash? (thumb)

sorry for being a pest, but i'm married, so you can't hold me responsible for my actions.

:)

Yes it worked like that, and no it does not matter if it is there or in the other coupler. The only reason I changed it was because I didn't like the idea of not getting a perfect seal around the sensor... didn't want to be letting in any unfiltered air at all.

Just look in the area that is circled and you will see the hole. It is the only one down there that the sensor will fit into.

right on lol

thanks for the pics- install coming soon!

I see you are doing the same thing I'm doin Cap. 505, do you think that having the sensor there unprotected is going to damage it for me up here in the cold/icy/frozen rain NY area. At least in the intake it is protected and the air really isn't as cold as it is in the body of the car, I think.

It is pretty well protected where I have it. I haven't had any problems in the ~6 months or so that I have been driving around with it there... and it has been raining a lot here lately.
