OK, how cool is this? I just got my engine start button (Ignited) and installed it today.
I know, it's crazy and trivial, but I think it looks so awesome, and it's just way to cool to push the button and start the car up!
It fit right in the cigarette lighter hole (which I removed, I don't smoke anyways), so it looks fairly stock.
Love to hear the groups thoughts/opinions on this minor mod...

Nice, I considered this mod, but I need my sig lighter for other things. Maybe if I get enough crap I will build a piece that has 4 of them so I can hook all my stuff up!

Anyway, nice job, just gotta make sure it sounds nice when you push it, like a race car to complete the effect.

haha, nice little nifty toy....yeah i never really known how they worked...wana fill us in?

and how many times did you start and turn off your car once you installed it? :)

Nice touch, but kind of pointless since you still have to put the key in and turn it to the "on" position. Here's the link to Ignited

Yeah, but let's face it... alot of stuff we do is pointless, when it comes to mods. Just thought it was different and kinda cool.
You still need the key, of course, otherwise anyone could steal it, right?
Key just goes to the "on" position, then fire it up.
Heck, it was only $50.oo, and it gives the car a little individuality.

With an S2k you have to turn the key as well.

My button is located under the headunit so it is not as far away. It would be more awkward for me to push it in the cig lighter position (boom03)

Sweet :D I wanted to do this, not sure if I will or not. It seems like a cool novelty though

I've considered doing somehting like this before. I actually have a couple questions.

Does it still allow you to start the car with the key alone, or do you HAVE to press the button? I'd consider more seriously if you are required to push the button just from a safety/anti-theft standpoint.

How hard was it to install? How many wires did you have to cut and tap into?

Very easy install...and yes, you can still start your car the normal way.

I'd imagine if you could trigger the crank wire with this button, it won't be hard to wire the crank wire in series with a button, so you need to push the button in AND turn the key to the crank position to start the engine. But you might need a different button than this.

People have also wired switches/buttons (and hide them as well) to their fuel pumps for anti-theft purposes as well. Pretty old trick. :)
