starter kill?

What do you guys think about installing these starter kill?
I saw similart product on move 'transporter'

This item works with or without an alarm system. Easy to install on any car or motorcycle. No one will be able to start your car without entering the four digit combination code ( even if they have the key! ). Can be installed into any vehicle. I would just spend the money on an entire alarm system, my clifford has a starter and ignition kill feature and the keypad is hidden out of view.....the one in your pic looks kinda tacky to me, like the back of a really old cell phone.

shouldn't this be in audio/electronics?

If someone is the least bit smart, they will be able to hot wire the car even with that keypad starter kill. You just have to know what your doing...

I'd say spend the money on something like a pager alarm, where you can know your car is being broken into when not in view... It helped me when two guys I know tried to vandalize my car.. I only wish I had it on before my car got keyed.

I spent $160 on mine and installed it myself.

Man, the cheapest system is just a regular solenoid switch, if you're going cheap. Without an alarm attached, that keypad is no better than a switch, both can be circumvented in the engine compartment (TRUST me ).

Just wire your ignition through to a switch that you can hide anywhere in your car, be it under the dash or less conspicuously in the door pocket, or in the glove compartment (which you can lock).

As usual, blynzoo has a very good point!

I have had a similar setup on my truck for almost 8 years now. I spliced the ignition wire in the steering column, ran the two ends over to a toggle switch under the glove box, and presto!! You have a very effective, very cheap starter cutout. My G/f used to get sneaky and move my truck between classes and stuff at school, just to mess with me. That actually prompted it, but it turns out to be a really good theft deterrent idea as well.

I just got watched the Transporter this last weekend, pretty good show. I rented that and Vanilla sky... talk about some convoluted, confusing s***... Sheesh. lol
