Darkened Front Mazda Emblem

2002 Mazda Protege5
Hey, I've seen in some of you guys' pics that the front Mazda emblem that comes chrome stock is black on some of your cars. I was just wondering how you guys did it, did you just paint it, or what went into it. I couldnt find any previous threads on it so i figured I'd start one!

ive seen a lot of guys just take it off....the plastic behind it is the same shape...but idk if you would have to do anything else to make it look right

i've done it and what i did was just use dental floss and run it behind the emblem .. it's glued on with two sticks that jet out of the emblem on each side .. just run the dental floss slowly to remove the glue and itll come right off.

*edit* afterwards sand it down till the chrome is pretty much gone, spray it, reglue it, and youre done.

I painted mine aswell. Its not to hard, just take em off, prep, then paint. I used a semi-gloss black.

On a hot day, it will come off with a screwdriver and a little bit of patience. Once you get it off, you have to sand it until the sheen is gone from the chrome. You don't have to totally removie the chrome, but try not to leave any spots untouched. After that it's just primer and paint.
