Some quick help please. In the picture, is there supposed to be a vacuum hose connected on the circled portion? If so, where does it go to? Thanks in advance. This is on the far left/back (as you are facing the engine).

It looks like your factory map sensor has been bypassed. The hose on the back nib of the valve was on the right side nib stock then runs to the bottom of the sensor if I remember correctly. Then a hose run to under the intake manifold on the side of the motor to a post. Pretty sure the mazdaspeed is the same as the P5 with Hiboost.

After checking my car, there is supposed to be a vacuum hose connected on the circled portion. It goes for about six inches towards the driver's side, parallel to the fire wall, and then heads down to the lower passenger side of the intake manifold, where it connects to a nipple. If you look at the lower right (i.e., southeast) corner of your picture, the vacuum hose connects to a nipple located beneath the brass colored plate that holds an "arm." Note that the brass colored plate and arm reside "behind" the blue and black hoses in your picture.

I hope this is what you wanted.

Well, I guess that is the sensor that compares absolute manifold pressure to barometric pressure. I must have knocked that off when I was installing my nology wires. Unluckily that was about when I installed my MAM exhaust mani, so I assumed the CEL was because of something I had done in that install. That was one of the only vacuum hoses I hadn't replaced with a silicon hose and SS clamps. Go figure(hand) .

Thanks again professorMSP.

BTW, this was causing intermittant idle drops. For all those with idling problems check ALL of your vacuum hose connections:)
