Exel wheels (questions?)

I believe they (Wheelmax) had a number of available offsets, IIRC 42, 45, 48... Mine were +45.

Could you have run a 215/40 with those wheels without any problems?

My Ennios came with 205/40/17 Nankang N1's. They aren't that bad and they retail and Discount Tire for $70 each. Not bad for everyday driving. I probably won't buy from Wheelmax again either.

I'm strictly buying the wheels....nothing else from Wheelmax. I called yesterday to see what the offset was and Nate was right....45. That's good because now I can run a 215/40 instead of the 205.

whoa that mazda emblem in the middle is pretty kool did it just fit in or did you have it made or what?

so would ppl not reccomend wheelmax? im in the market for some rims and just trying to figure out where i shoudl buy from

1. Do Exel (Ennio) wheels require hub centric rings to fit the P5?

2. Will the stock lug nuts work, or will I need aftermarket?

3. Does anyone know another seller for Exel wheels other than Wheelmax?...heard too many horror stories about them.

4. 18's or 17's?.....these are only going to be spring/summer/early fall wheels.

Thanks for the help.
First off get ahold of Rishie at Auto R&D....or one of the other guys that work there that are here on the board....I have the Rota Battles that look almost exactly like those that I got from them....plus they carry another wheel that is almost identical but I can't remember the make.....they can hook you up....and will save you money....even if you only want the wheels..

Second. Yes you will need a set of aftermarket lugs...and Rishie can hook you up there with a good set that you won't have to worry about braking or leaving you stranded when its special socket breaks either..

Third...NO...

Forth.....its up to you and what kind of ride you want.....Personally I went with the 17's.

NOW...someone at the begining of this thread mentioned offset...and they were off base since you have a P5....if you get a 7.5" wide wheel...you better get a +48 offset or you just might have problems....if you go with a 7 inch wide wheel you can get away with +45. if you go lower than these....you may very well experience rubbing depending on the brand of tire you get...if you go with these offsets...you WILL be good to go. Rishie has a P5....he has tested many wheel tire combo's to substantiate these measurements....but hey...its your money.....get what you want.....but let it be known you have been told. If you don't believe me....go to the stickied thread at the index page of this section of the forum and read it...the tire/wheel recipe thread.....you will find the phone number and address to the Auto R&D shop there too....drop a dime and give them a call....tell them you are from the forum....they will NOT steer you wrong....even if you do buy the wheels from some one else.

only if they are 7 inch wide wheels....if they are 7 1/2 " wide....be ready for some rubbing.....especially with the 215.

I have 17 X 7.5's and I am running a 215/40 Yoko.....but I have a +48 offset....as per Rishie's recipe....and they are close....but there is clearance....I am lowered on Eibach's....and have never EVER rubbed a thing.

Rishie and the guys at Auto R&D are the MEN!

they are out of the stock wheels. they are just painted :)

Well, I called Wheel Max to place my order for the wheels this evening, but unfortunately they were out of the 17x7 in Hyperblack. They said they should have another shipment in about 3 weeks. Oh well, it's not like they are going on until spring anyway.

yes, i am also lookin at a few sets of rims and i was wondering the same, are the rims bad? just like some feed back on the quality, good or bad. thanks!

Just got these tonight. Exel TZ10 17x7 45 offset hyperblack. I had no problems with Wheelmax whatsoever. I even got a tracking #. As far as quality, they do look way better in person. I'll post installed pics tomorrow.

I have the Ennios and from what little driving I've done on the P5 I thought they were good. I bought mine off of a friend of a friend and got a pretty good deal. What I don't understand is why do they call them hyperblack when they are actually grey. My Ennios are gunmetal, they are black, but look really good on the car. As soon as it comes out of the shop I'll post some pics.

I had the gunmetal ennios, they aren't black, they're gunmetal lol

they hyperblack are thus named because they're a very high contrast dark silver, with shades ranging from silver all the way to black depending on light and shadow

the rims look good

you should crop the white off your sig b/c it's just taking up space :p

nice, i like it better fi it had the chrome look goin around the outside... for some reason i think it makes the gunmetal look better. but its pretty played out

This is sorta bringing up an old thread for an off-topic reason, but oh well. What is this business with hubcentric rings? How would I know if I need them?

I have Exel Speeds with 215/40/17 Kumho Ecsta MX and I have some light highway vibration but figured that something was just slightly unbalanced or out of alignment. Are hubcentric rings important?

I have the same wheels as you, zverg, and I'm wondering about hubcentric rings as well. I have noticed that the Exel Speeds do make the car vibrate a little more than usual. I had the stock wheels on my car with my current drop and didn't notice it as much. hmmm...

My wheels came with the hubcentric rings, but I didn't think they were necessary, but now I'm not sure.
