Exel wheels (questions?)

I have the same wheels as you, zverg, and I'm wondering about hubcentric rings as well. I have noticed that the Exel Speeds do make the car vibrate a little more than usual. I had the stock wheels on my car with my current drop and didn't notice it as much. hmmm...

My wheels came with the hubcentric rings, but I didn't think they were necessary, but now I'm not sure.

Crap they were probably in the bottom of the boxes and my parents threw them out. I had them shipped home when I was up at school and my parents got the tires mounted and drove them up so I never got to see what was in the box. hmm

hub centric rings are a plastic "spacer" for rims that have a more "universal" hub hole. if the hub hole on the rim is larger than the hub on your car, you should use the hub centric rings. without the rings the wheels are lug cenrtic, meaning that they center on the wheel studs/lug nuts.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, I have had an alignment and wheel balancing done. Maybe they do need the rings...

I found this that makes me think they do:

Hub centric rings are manufactured so that when they are installed on a vehicle, the wheels are located directly off of the centre flange of the brake drum or rotor. This is done to insure that the outer beads of the wheel are concentric with the wheel bearings. The result is a much truer, better balanced tire/wheel assembly. This is very important with modern high tech suspension systems.

no problem, it doesn't hurt anything to not have them, but the wheel just fits better with them. that and its easier to mount, lol.

If you got your exel's from Wheelmax, don't feel bad. They don't automatically include the hub centric rings. You have to order them seperately. So just order up a set, have 'em shipped to you directly, and put 'em on the car. That should help quell the bad vibes a bit.

I have no idea. Wheelmax used to have an associated site that could tell you the correct rings for your car and wheel, but they don't seem to any longer. I'd call them to find out.

Thanks, but now I have another question. What size? From looking at this page , it seems as though there is a plethora of sizes available.

I believe our stock center bore is 67.1mm, you have to find out what the center bore of the rim you bought is

When I input Protege5 and exel wheels it doesn't find anything, my guess is they don't list exel wheels. I'll try to remember to call wheelmax monday and I'll post the results here in case anyone else is looking for the same info.
