anyone have the perrin short ram ??

i think i'm gonna buy a SRI for my MSP.
just kinda wondering if anyone has the perrin, and if you think it's a good choice.

thanks

I actually built my own, i think the filter location of the aftermarket sri's sux. I put my filter right in between my smic and my headlight away from the hot air the fan blows. All i used was an sri for a honda cut the tubing and drilled a hole for the air temp sensor. It cost me a total of 50 bux.

I'd go with a CAI instead of a hot air...I mean SRI intake. I have an old spool CAI and it's very nice. There are pics of the perrin one on here somewhere, it's funny looking, like a big microphone that sticks straight up. Cold air is always better.

If you have a stock intercooler, then an CAI will yield better gains. If you plan on upgrading your intercooler and/or raising the boost, a SRI will yield better results.

I have the Perrin and like it just fine. One thing to note, it was not made to work with FMICs, so you may have some clearance issues. I have an older Hiboost FMIC and the perrin sits right ontop of the BOV. This causes the top of the intake to rub against the bottom of my hood. No significant damage to either yet, but it will come. Eventually I'll switch the filter out for a shorter HKS one and won't have this issue. You just might want to double check it will work with the set-up you plan to have.

Also you have to Recirc with the Perrin. The Maf is so close to the turbo yo get blow back and stalling issues when you don't recirculate. When you do, it forces the air away from the MAF toward the turbo so no blowback and thus no stalling occurs.

Here's a pic of my set up:

Could you post a pic of your intake?

Thanks

whats wrong with the stock set-up?
stock setup is actually very well made.
even the guys at K&N were impressed.

some of the highest whp numbers (JoeP) and quickest times (blkzoomzoom ;) ) were achieved with stock airboxes.

NO! COLD AIR COLD AIR! is best. Plus it sounds cool.

Doesn't Kand N still oil the filters too much and it may coat your MAF?

yep to both

I am not sure if you remember, but when he needed to call someone, that was me. Just thought you would like to know, this has absolutly no significance what so ever, I just find it interesting(werd)

Look on the injen, aem. and perrin, same thing. The perrin has the most oil out of all of them.
