Read This and Build it tough.

i would run 8-9psi with with you have. Then start saving for 10+psi. Running say 10 right now wont blow your motor on the first pass, but gives a while and she will not be happy. With my mods I am running 10psi, when i can afford rods + tuning it will go higher.

Figured I should post my blown engine going 12psi...

I think that was mostly due to having no exhaust piping or downpipe. You had the FMIC, but going hard in fifth like you did scares me now,so I dont give it at all in fifth. Every time i think about turning up the boost a bit I watch your movie, it sobers me. Really Sucks it happened, but I dont think it would have blown if you had less backpressure from a DP or at least midpipe. The flash just topped it off too. I wouldnt go 12 without popping out the IAT sensor and running like 75% meth in my mix.

this thread is going to give me nightmares.I know mine will end up poping, that I don't mind, but I know it's going to happen at the worst time,in BF Egypt.

I doubt any level of increased boost is "safe" on this car without a lot of work. Some folks do OK with a little more, but many have popped a hole in their block as you can see. Even with a lot of supporting mods, you can't put down a lot of power on the stock bottom end.

yeap what i've been saying all along. this motor is a mystery. it eats rods when it feels hungry, and WHO KNOWS when its hungry!!

I know you all say "could happen no matter what" but i am about to run turbo hoses SMIC Kit, 2.5 catback with highflow cat, CAI, and the Greddy Prfec BSpec II, and maybe a down pipe (isn't the down pipe 2.5"?). and will be boosting at 10PSI.

Did you all, with the blown engines, have a MBC and spike big time when you blew out the bottom end?

The reason i ask is because i know with a Boost/Vac Guage it is hard to see a spike and its Actual amount becuase it can be so quick so i was wondering if ...

A) you all had MBCs which tend to spike high and with that there is no electronic log to see what happened

B) if you were running a EBC with a display and saw what happened when it blew. Also EBCs have a much lesser tendency to spike (as much atleast).

Any input will be greatly appreciated for all of us that are currently having nightmares!!!!
