im looking for a new digital camera in the $150-$250 range.
i want good image quality, and most important really nice color to the pics. it would also be cool if it could take good low light shots, (like cars in a parking lot at night)

any suggestions

Canon A75, one of the BEST!

minolta dImage Xt was pretty nice. Was the size of a deck of cards, so could put it in your pocket and forget about it.

I've been looking in that price range too. Canon, Nikon and Minolta seem to be the best quality and you can get a decent 3.2MP but the battery life is crap. I'm considering going with the Canon SD110, if it was only $200 dammit!

Check out the Nikon Coolpix line. I have a 3200 and love it! I bought some Ni-Cad batteries for it and I get good life out of them. They won't hold a charge for extended periods for a damn, but that's the nature of Ni-cads though.

The Dimage has EXCELLENT battery life. It has one of those lithium bad boys. I ain't kidding its great. Has optical zoom yet the lense never sticks out, because it is like a periscope. I get ecellent pictures with it, I can show you one of a sunrise if you want its awesome.

i have the nikon 3200 as well...biggest problem is battery life. i have ni-cad's (2300mAh) as well, and they don't really last too long. you can get the lithium battery for it, but they only have disposable. the lithiums last about 300-350 pics with flash on. with the ni-cad's, you'd be lucky to get about 40 pics with the flash.

my suggestion is to find a camera that comes with a rechargeable lithium battery or at least one that will take more than 2 AA batteries.

You all retarded hehe just kidding.
My girlfriend has one of those pretty nice expensive Cannons and she likes mine WAY better. I get excellent, and I mean excellent battery life and it has a great picture quality and ease of operation. It has been featured in many men magazines as the perfect camera. Do it.

the minolta takes nice pictures.
most ultracompact cameras start to cut corners on things like battery life and even tripod mounts, but the minolta has it. you can get them on ebay for CHEAP. they even came out with a waterproof case for them. i totally regret getting rid of it.

heres an unedited sunset pic from vacation with it.

p.s. /threadjack i still have a leather case and 2x 256mb SD cards if any dImage X users are interested
