no its really not much trouble to do. outerdoor skin will need the multible layers. and then do one layer on the inner side of the doorsking itself. beleive me sound damping is worth it when done right. i'm pushing 800 watts of bass in the car outside the car there isnt' any rattles whatsoever and its barely audible from the outside.

I know I've pimped it alot, but for sheer sound Dampening, look into the carpet padding or some other form of suppression material. I jsut like carpet padding because it's cheap and effective. There's other, purpose-specific stuff that's denser, and likely more efficient however, but it's always seemed intimidatingly expensive to me. Eitherway, this would be in addition to the dynomat-type stuff in the interest of keeping in-cabin sound in and roadnoise out. It reallly does make an audible difference, especially on the freeway and such.

Yeah sounds like a plan. I'll probably get a roll and then do the double layer on the outer pannel and one on the inside. I'll spend a day doing that and pulling new wires through most likely.

Oh where should i stick the cross over? Just duct tape it in the corner of the door or something? Have no idea what would be better.

oh dear god you did not just suggest duct taping the x-overs to your door(attn)

lmao, no, at least use zip ties. but preferably bolt or screw it down.

Haha that is EXACTLY why I said that lol. I knew when I got a response it would be a funny one :). When I take my doors apart I'll see where it will fit.

which leads us to another good question... where do you intend to put your tweeters?

Well If I read about them correctly they are made to be close to the mid's. So I would place them like 1" or so (not sure will have to read again) away from the mid's in the door.

You gonna cut a hole in the door, or try to put them under the stock "grille"?

I've played around a good bit with positioning with my mids in my doors, and kept comingup with putting them ultimately on the kickpanel right near the door. The bonus of this is that you can keep your XO's out of the doors, and then not have to worry about the constant opening and slamming stresses that they'll have to withstand from their mounting, as well as possible moisture, etc.

You might wanna try some 2-sided tape and just alot of moving them around once you get them. I obviously never got toofar witht his setups seeingas my mids only lasted me 2days, but the majority of that time was spent moving the tweets allover the place, and this spot, to me truely sounded the best, atleast with the speaker setup I had (eDi's, which suck, but are similar to CDT's)

I guess it all depends on what you wanna do with your amp, but mine being under-seat, I just found room under there aswell for the crossovers.

Thanks for the picture and opinions.

Yeah I'll end up putting the mid in the stock position and the tweeter will be close. I don't want to put it in the litte stock tweeter place. And my friends have busy feet so where you have yours would worry me. Most likely I would drill a small hole in the door and place it just above the mid in the door. So it would be as flush as possible so the risk of getting hit is reduced.

Also that is a cool idea about the XO I'll have to think about that. I'll either secure it in the door or try what you mentioned. A small hole for the speaker wires so I can attach it into the........map slot?? Lol not sure what to call it.

Edit: I just re-read your post, so where exactly is your XO? Is it under the rail where the tweeter wire is going? At first I thought you meant what I said above, but then that would be slamming them over and over anyway so I'm not sure what you mean.

my crossovers are under the seat next to my amp actually. Kindof did it just sitting there to start with wile I got everything adjusted, aimed and dialed, and eventually just decided to leave them there. I've got velcro ont he bottom so they stick to the carpet *L* ghettor perhaps, but it works and they're out of the way... As for tweeter position. The busy feet concern was one of mine as well. That spot's actually quite protected. Take a look next time you're in your car, there's kind of a "hump" infront of it that keeps it out of harm's way. I actually drove around like that and intientionally gave some of my clumsier friends rides, with no issue. That being said, t's nothing super pretty. a tweeter hanging off of something is far from clean, but the sound difference there was good enough to justify it to me. I highly recommend moving them around a bit and playing with it before you go cutting any holes.

i prefer to keep my crossovers out of the door and just run some extra speaker wire, speaker wire is cheap and now adays crossovers have selections on them for muting the tweeter or making adjustments that are nice to be able to get to easily when tuning or when making changes.

Yeah that really sounds like a good idea, I will most likely go that route now. Sometime when I'm bored I'll tear the door apart and see what needs to be done.
