FMIC in winter condition

probably a few reasons: snow, ice, slush, rocks, dirt, SALT, etc ...

i'd put a mesh or screen just to block some of the debris flying at your FMIC. if it's SS, then it shouldn't rust or corrode. but maybe some rust proofing solution could be used to slightly coat the piping etc, just to be safe.
 
I will install mesh grille in the front of my intercooler for sure...
I was more concern about fuel cut due to colder temperature ???
 
yea leave it on , i would hate to return to stock every winter , man what a chore . its bad enuff changing tires. just like any car let it warm up good for a few minutes. it might take a lil longer and leave the mesh on atleast for winter. ice , snow and water on your intercooler can only help but you dont want hard ice or debre slamming into it .

you might have to turn down the boost a lil , if you hit fuel cut in the summer your going to hit it more in the winter. if your hitting it at stock boost in low rpms. id say get engine management like unichip
 
Not to thread jack, but can you explain more about how the engine management works? I know it adjust the fuel level, but is it something you can program, or just it just move all the maps? Or am I way off:)
 
Just go back to stock boost in the winter. The car pulls harder with the cold temps anyway so no need to up the boost. Plus, with the snow on the ground, do you plan on going anywhere fast?
 
FMIC will not affect "fuel" cut, it is after the MAF and air temp sensor so the engine essentially doesn't know it is getting cold air.
