    Driving Technique Discussion

Just to add my two cents, I never take my hands of the wheel on course. I rarely needed to turn the wheel past ~120* so its not really an issue. Also tips for slaloms, remember the car is not going to change direction until the weight transfers. That fact becomes very obvious in quick...

    Goodbye to the P5

Yea it does, its a base with a 6-speed and the sport package. To be completely honest I thought the revmatch would be awesome but after driving with it for a few days I'm not all that impressed. Sure its nice to hear the throttle blips and whatnot but it just kinda seems like a waste. I need...

    Very high idle

my car does that whenever its cold just as a part of its warmup cycle. for questions on adjusting the throttle cable I'd go look at the service manual.

    Goodbye to the P5

So today after 6 good years of ownership 42,000 miles (including 4 cross country drives), and 2 full seasons of autox I handed the keys to my P5 over to my brother. The car has been perfect with no major mechanical problems. Course I've got the standard clutch chatter, clogged EGR, torn motor...

    EGR cleaning

Thats probably ok, the main reason to fully disassemble it is to prevent from shorting out the solenoid. As long as you let it dry out really well it should be fine.

    auto and manual engines

Even though at the cores the engines are the same it is a huge project to do a transmission swap. If you search around there are a couple people that have tried it and there are complete lists of parts you will need in there. But as I said be warned it can cost upwards of $3000 and have you're...

Study: Ford, GM quality surpass Honda

A study commissioned by Ford, using a Michigan-based company, studying problems encountered during the first 3 months of ownership? Regardless of the probable bias in this study what does the first 3 months of ownership prove? Most people are still figuring out how to use the radio 3 months...

    Thinking about jumping into STS(2)

So as the title state I've recently been considering trying to pick up a miata and go play in STS, or possibly ES. I figured this would be the best place to start asking questions so here goes. How much should I think about paying? Im ok with buying either a prepped car or something thats...

    win cash racing your mazda

Also cause nobody's mentioned it yet. It only pays autox money for people that win pro solos or national events which is no easy feat. You're not gonna get paid to go out and race in your local region once a month.

My p5 is on its period.

To expand on the egr issue. In my experience the EGR can cause a rough idle but will not fix a hunting idle. On my car cleaning the egr made it idle much much smoother but I still have issues with the idle dipping below 800 RPM and almost stalling.

    Bigger injectors NA P5

You can go over and look in the NA section, I know the information is there, but off the top of my head fuel and spark are not an issue in an NA FSDE. I've seen some turbo guys upgrade injectors but only with build blocks and pushing big boost numbers. So in summary not necessary and very...

    Stuttering

Its also complete unnecessary. Gasoline doesn't freeze until around -100* F which I don't see anyone driving through anytime soon. Glad replacing the coil packs fixed your problem but I'd stop wasting your money on gasoline antifreeze.

    Stuttering

what the hell is this Heet you mention above? I've parked my car outside in -15 degree weather with no problems. Its possible whatever that fuel additive is has clogged injectors or damaged sensors.

    constant rain, mold smell?

I had a leak in my windshield after it got replaced. Could feel the headliner and it was all damp. I also got mildewed floormats once from tracking snow into my car and having it slowly melt and soak the floormats.
