My p5 is on its period.

I've gotta 2002 p5. Tried to pass emissions test. Check engine light came on in the line and I failed it LOL. Its the bank running lean code.

As of right now, it is idling ruff and is sluggish on acceleration. Any ideas?

see the bad idle is caused normally by a bad egr...

when the egr gets dirty, the valve starts to stick open, and at idle its normally closed...so with it open, extra air is getting into the engine after the MAF sensor..so the ecu does not know about this air, and it causes a bad idle

To expand on the egr issue. In my experience the EGR can cause a rough idle but will not fix a hunting idle. On my car cleaning the egr made it idle much much smoother but I still have issues with the idle dipping below 800 RPM and almost stalling.
