What have you done to your Miata today?

Check in my so-called build thread later, I have been home nearly three weeks and did manage to do some things which I will be documenting here in a bit.

Dania Beach. I have some job related training to do, small arms quals done now. Next week I have to prove I can fight a fire, and prove my ass will float in water.

Oil change number two. 3862 mi.

Rinseless wash and application of Hybrid Solutions Flex Wax. I have been putting that off—this soft paint really needs it to stay slick and reject bugs and dirt. A ceramic coating would be even better.

Applying this stuff is super easy. A little bit goes a long way—2 sprays into the cloth per panel, buff off thoroughly with another. Flip to another side for the next panel. People who have issues are using too much product.

Next wash will use the pressure washer because rinseless isn't really the best at getting junk out of the wheel wells. I expect the car to be super nice to wash next time due to the slickness and hydrophobicity.

That's a beautiful pic, well done! Also great to see you posting more about your Miata..(y)

Just ordered a set of Continental VikingContact 8's in 215/45/17 to replace my old (date code of 1618) Firestone Winterforce 2's this coming Friday. The Firestone's still have decent tread and appear fine visibly but considering I have a 40 mile round trip commute on the highway, I didn't want to take any chances. I almost pulled the trigger last week but glad I waited as Continental now has $200 MIR promotion. The VC8 qualifies for $110 and I'll get another $90 for using the Conti MasterCard along with 6mos no interest.

I wasn't looking to go up in width but Conti doesn't offer it in a 205/45/17. It does come in a 205/50/17 which my Firestone's are but I wanted to try the 215s to compare. The ride on the 205/50s was softer but the car was very sluggish and being a winter tire, squirmy when the roads were dry.

I'll take the Ferrari hatchback! haha

Within the last two weeks, I've changed the oil, swapped the summer wheels on and gave her a nice post winter bath inside and out including a fresh coat of 303 Fabric Guard for the top.

Treat her well!
