So Long And Thanks For All The Fish…

2013 Mazda CX-5
With apologies to Douglas Adams.

Well I sold my 2013 CX-5 yesterday and I’m kinda sad, but it was toe to let it go.

It was a reliable car. I had one issue where it would run rough and die. Dealer diagnosed it with a faulty MAF sensor (I think). There was also bad bearing in the left rear wheel. Other than that it was reliable. The clear coat was failing, the driver’s seat leather had a few cracks, the door cards were delaminating, and it had damage in the bumper where my kid hit it when parking in the garage.

I will still miss it. I had a pang of regret as it was being loaded on to the Carvana truck.

Sounds like it served your family well for many years. How many miles on it when it left to its new home?

less than 79,000. I started working from home over a decade ago so mileage was pretty low.

And what are you replacing it with?
I bought a 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid for my kid last year but they moved to Seattle and decided to hold off taking the car with them. Who knows if they’ll change their mind. If they do we’ll buy something else. In the meantime, we’ll drive the Honda. No need for two cars and it’ll be one less vehicle to insure.

The Civic is a great car and it has great pickup thanks to the electric motor. But it’s a little low to the ground for these old bones. LOL.

The bad thing was that I had just refilled the gas tank a couple of days ago and I still had a year left on the registration. But I had a couple days off this week and decided at the spur of the moment to sell it. If I didn’t sell it soon, it would need an oil change and new tires.
