Hi everyone,
My new CX-5 in Edmonton AB Canada is my favourite
I love it.
My brother and I have experience installing dashcams front and rear. Did the 2012 (Thinkware Q1000) and 2014 Mazda3 (TW U1000).
They work flawlessly.
We installed a Thinkware Q1000 in my 2024 CX-5 and it's working. The installation process is much more difficult but we got it to work.
The dashcam records but I noticed when we are just looking at the car and playing with features with it off, the dashcam shuts off.
I looked up the events in the app for the cam, and sure enough, the Low Voltage Cutoff feature occurred. This told me, the cam shut off with 12.1 volts from the engine 12V battery.
I've never had this on our Mazda3s and was wondering if any of you have experience with dashcams cutting off? Do I need to get an external battery back? We hardwired everything correctly. But what we noticed was the car's 12V battery doesn't top up. I bought a Napa battery maintainer, charger and it shows we hit 98% and I leave it for hours. Still 98% - nothing changed. The battery is a Panasonic Lithium I believe.
Is my 12V defective? Do I need to replace the battery soon? I don't know how my dealership will react if they see I have a dashcam. I might get blamed and warranty voided?
Regards,

2017~2025: Thread 'Another CX-5 Battery question!'
My second generation CX5 (2017) with istop has completed 3 years and I am getting worried about the life of the original battery. It is charged/topped up now and then using a C-Tek charger and I have recently topped up both the charge and the distill water in the battery. Winters are harsh here in Sweden and all the electronics plus stop start takes its toll on the battery. As I gather from reading at this site and other sources, our batteries are regular flooded lead acid optimised for start stop and made by Panasonic with about 540CCA. Now to my question.
