What is the black square function where there is a tiny orange tape?

It's the SD card slot. There is typically an SD card in there which has the factory GPS data.

Thank you. I got the Touring without the Mazda Navigation. I want to mention that I am already enjoying the Android Auto...Especially viewing Google Maps and listening to Pandora. So far I don't miss the Navigation I had in the CX-5 I traded in.
