Yeh, but the highest peak of the Rockies is nearly twice the elevation of the highest peak of the Blue Ridge. Objectively, they are both mountain ranges, but comparatively they are very different from each other, especially in size.
Love that drive through Rocky Mountain NP! Haven't been to Estes Park in a bit. Will have to make that trip one of these Saturdays.I know, brother. I know. I drove up Trail Ridge Road. Google that if you have a minute. When I left Estes Park it was 72 degrees. When I go to the top it was 56. I know there's nothing like it in the lower 48...
I still consider the Smokies and Blue Ridge proper mountain ranges.
Keep in mind I'm in Ohio...630 ft above sea level. [emoji3]
When you go for a test drive, does the salesman come along with you (uhm)
Mine never did so I was able to test as I wished. Hope you can do the same![]()
He came with me.
The custom here in the states has evolved. It used to be that you could go to a dealer, get the keys, and drive to your heart's content. At some point that changed (25-30 years ago).
It's not that big of a deal. The guy has not pressured me or balked when we got off the highway and I said "We need to do that again."
Eh. I did plenty of by my self test drives. He came with me.

That said, the CX-5 wasn't one of them, but the salesman didn't care what I did. I took it up a mountain freeway to see what it would do (I-70).
Pretty much.Sounds like there it depends on the dealership
Pretty much.
Also...if they are busy or not.

0 - 60 Good
60 - 80 Enough
80 - 105 Adequate
I'm embarrassed to say I haven't had this one over 105. :-(
In 2015 when I bought my 6, the dealer came with me on my test drive
This time around, I took 2 separate test drives at 2 different dealerships and none of the salesmen came with me.
Did you have to ask to go alone, or did they just hand you the keys?
They gave me the option but leaned towards me going by myself as they already had a copy of my drivers licence and I signed paperwork stating if I damage the car, I would have to pay a large excess![]()
They made a copy of my license as well, both at Carmax (a nationwide used car reseller) and at the Mazda dealership. Here in Virginia there is a "points system" on licenses. Various infractions incur different points, after which you lose your license. I have a huge credit balance because I have had one accident in my 48 years of driving. Driving alone was not offered. But again, I like being able to ask questions on the fly, and was able to drive where & how I wanted.
Maybe I should feel slighted. That should be good for another $750 off, wouldn't you thing?![]()
