Smart Brake Support question

I have a 2017 CX-9 GT here in the UAE, been using it for the last 7 months and absolutely love it.

Now, on the safety settings, under smart brake support - the mode is always switched off. Every time i drive, i have to switch it on.
Is this normal? - Also - i haven't really seen it function ever - so don't really know whether it works as well or not.

Has anyone else experienced this? Why can't it remain on always??

In my 2018 CX-9 GT, (In the USA), the default condition (Under the Personal Settings > Safety > SBS/SCBS) is “checked” (ON).

If you uncheck it (OFF) in Personal Settings – immediately a YELLOW (Amber) warning icon (That displays 2 autos crashing with the words OFF) is displayed on the main speedometer and STAYS ON.

When you then stop and later restart the vehicle, SBS/SCBS automatically resets itself to “ON” and the YELLOW (Amber) warning icon no longer displays.

I believe I read in the Owner’s manual that some features may not all work the same in different countries. (Perhaps that’s your problem)?

In addition to what Hockeye, just stated, when you have SBS on and you don't see it working, that's probably because your rate of speed, rate of acceleration (negative or positive) and distance from the vehicle directly in front of you is not such that you get the Red Banner in the middle of your HUD warning you to Brake Now! It is part of the i-ACTIVSENSE pack at it works above about 9mph. This worked both in my 2017 Signature and my 2018 Signature.
