2017~2025 KF CX-5 Weird Auto Climate Control

:
Mazda CX-5 KF
Anyone else feel the new CX5 Auto settings are screwy ?

It's winter down here in Australia .. so if it's 13C outside and I set the Climate Control to 25C the car decides to blow vented cold air onto my feet.

It also sometimes thinks I want vented air 10C colder than the set point blowing in my face.

Unless I want the car to take 20mins to warm up, I also find I have to crank the temp up to max 30 until the car warms up and then turn it down to 24.

My VW GTI would warm up quickly then stabilise but it seems the CX5 doesn't really have a good calibration.

Defeats the purpose of having auto temp.

Hopefully this can be fixed via software

Have you got it set to auto and just adjusting the temperature (scratch)

Also silly question but is ac actually on as in ac is showing on the display (scratch) You're not just running the ventilation system.

I simply don't use Auto mode on CX-5's automatic climate control system.

Yes haha it's in Eco mode

Think there is an issue with yours. I suggest take it to the Mazda service centre on a cold day and get the technician to sit with you inside and show them exactly what it's doing. It doesn't sound right. If in summer it cools quickly, it should heat up quickly in winter

See my below post before doing this

Before you do what I said above, turn off eco mode. Waste of function. Should fix your issue.

I use it and works flawlessly

+1

In most late model cars that I've seen you'll get slightly cooler air from the dash vents than you will from the floor vents, this is by design. I believe that the owner's manual even has mention of this.

Indeed. When I get into the car that is boiling hot, I set the temperature to 18 degrees Celsius which is the coldest setting I believe, open all windows for about a couple of minutes by which time it is already starting to cool down then shut all windows. Within maybe 10 minutes it's already nice and comfortable. The air conditioning unit on my 6 does a great job [emoji106] I expect the CX-5 to be the same

So disabling Eco makes all the difference between fast warm up and cold car !! Thanks for the tip :)

Good to know you found the solution. So, what does ECO supposed to do?

Probably conserves fuel at the expense of comfort. Otherwise somebody would complain that it wastes energy heating the car before the engine has warmed up.

Bingo. Less fuel use

AC ECO Mode

So, what does ECO supposed to do?
AC "ECO" mode doesn't exist in US CX-5.

I believe in AC "ECO" mode the AC compressor would stop running when the AC'ed air reached to the specified temperature, whereas AC only mode will let AC compressor running all the time mixing with heated air to adjust output air to specified temperature.

Also, I believe in order to have AC "ECO" mode in Automatic Climate Control of your CX-5, you need i-stop feature.
