2017 CX-5 ... No Tow eye (tow hook )

Bought my 207 CX-5 like a week ago ...
Today I was cleaning up and notice in the spare tire
area there was NO TowEye( tow hook )

Not sure if its because I only have the base "Sport" model ...

I am considering ordering the OEM toweye (towhook) but its like $35

or will you guys suggest I buy a cheap ebay JDM tow hook and call it a day
since I'll probably never use it ...

Suggestions plz

After we purchased our 2016.5 I noticed that the two tow hooks were missing. I spoke with my salesman about it and he ordered the hooks and shipped them to me.

I hope that I never need them but if I do...

My understanding is that they are NOT tow hooks. They are tie-down hooks for when the car is being shipped. Check your owners manual and I think that will be confirmed.

As mentioned they are tie downs, not tow hooks. They are not provided with the cars - at least not in my market. Mazda recycles the ones used on the boats.

In markets other than the US these are called tow hooks. In the US they are not. Strange eh?

I am not in the US, I am in Australia, and they are not tow hooks here. Manual says not to use them for towing.

Don't use them for towing, they're not strong enough,
Like what others have said, they're just used to secure the CX5 down during rough sea on the boat. I have seen some people use them to secure kayaks though......

Yep - they make excellent roof load tie down points. Gives those straps a secure spot to tie down to and keeps them from rubbing your paint (if your load is long enough). That's what I used to use them for on previous cars. Now I have a small utility trailer
