Help Me Decide: CX-5 vs. CR-V

Unlike CX5 which many have said that puts a smile on their faces. CR-V is something your wife might force you to buy (mine has taste, she won't) CX-5 is something you will be truly happy driving.

According to Motor Trend, they would recommend the CRV to both non-car people AND ENTHUSIASTS. Let's re-read what they had to say:

In the past, we lead-footed sports car lovers might have excused the Mazda’s deficiencies in exchange for its lusty driving experience. But this time, we have no hesitation in recommending the CR-V to enthusiasts as well as our automotively apathetic friends and family. It’s a narrow margin of victory, but whether your other car is a Camaro or a Corolla, if you want a compact crossover, you’ll be slightly better served by the new Honda CR-V.

I and many others will take Motor Trends opinion on this debate.

LOL. This from the guy who says all the reviewers are payed off shills when they like the CX-5. (rofl)

LOL what I said was to not take 'reviews' seriously when these auto companies are footing the bill for your flight, hotel, entertainment to come 'review' their car. That goes for Mazda, Honda or any other company. This comparison was unbiased most likely using fleet cars. Not only that but every other comparison has said the same thing CRV. I know you're salty about the CRV getting so much praise, but guess what? You'll just have to get used to it.

Actually I'm not at all salty about that. I've said that if it has what you want and value out of a car, the CR-V is fine.

For what I like, it is not.

Second I don't have to get used to s***. This is a Mazda forum. Not a Honda forum. This fact seems lost on you.

Edit: It's like the Seinfeld episode where the fat guy gets naked on the Subway and he just expects everyone to deal with it.

Driven Car Reviews on youtube:
Mazda Moves CX5 a Notch Higher into the Premium Segment.

He is great reviewer and a long time Miata fan. Does reviews for NYTimes.

Same here. I see a pretty even split of CX-5 drivers here. They also tend to trend younger than a lot of other CUV drivers I've seen.

Age wise probably similar here

Has any reviewer addressed this:

Pros of CX-5:
1) It is FAR better looking on both the exterior and interior. Not even a close comparison.

Because, again, I think this is the single greatest reason someone would chose it over a CRV, even with all the other "shortcomings" the CX5 has. Although, I personally would not choose the CX5 if it had the Honda engine/transmission because I tow a lot.

Purely opinion. If the greatest reason for one item over another is "how it looks to some people"...it's probably the wrong choice, unless it's a painting.

I understand that, but I can't see anyone who is looking at both cars objectively saying the CRV looks as good as the CX5; exterior or interior. The CRV does look way better than it used to, however.

CR-Vs "narrow margin of victory" equals Mango making sticky in his BVDs(no)

Addendum. He only gets to make sticky if he gets to post it on the Mazda forum. LOL (no)

I'd wager he didn't even post about it on the CR-V forum. (I could be wrong). At least the other Honda owners over there are a little more objective and can see the appeal of either car depending on what matters to you. Mango only s**** on the CX-5 and Mazda. LOL

Now Mango, show me on this doll where Mazda hurt you.

The same way someone could possibly look at the CRV with its better handling, full second faster to 60mph acceleration, better braking, AND better mpg, and say the CX5 has a better driveline.

Well kinda. I don't like the looks of either one of them, honestly, and I'm not spending $30k+ for a car when I'll never like it's looks.

Careful now, truths ruffle feathers around here...

Don't forget, it also completed the Figure-8 track at a quicker time as well according to Motor Trend. So much for that awesome 'handling' it has...

I love the looks of mine. Click the photo for a close up:

Well, I'll be honest and say neither bother me as much as they once did, but still not a fan enough to buy one, however I do like the 17 CRV better than the 17 CX-5 (overall anyways), although I'd never own either. Nice cars for sure, though...
