New 2017 CX-5 Revealed

This dude looks cramped as hell...

lol well the being sporty more like a car feel is what a lot of cx-5 owners boasts around here. so no one here better be complaining on how snug and tight it feels.

the first drive confirms better handling than the current, so again since that is such a big and huge factor on why they picked the cx-5, goes to say the new one is already better than the previous/current one.

Thank you. I've noticed more and more complaints over the years about things that usually are attributed to sprts cars. The Honda and Toyota appliamce crowd is slwly invading and with the announcement of no rx9, Mazda may be giving in.

I have already e-mailed my dealer requesting an early viewing when it hits the UK salerooms. Having looked at lots of alternatives including Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen and Honda...... Mazda still ticks more boxes.

Well that certainly says something for Mazda if you are still interested in them after all the trouble you had with the sat nav the first year. !!

Brand loyalists...I think Mazda counts on us.

My wife is Mazda for life.

The FORD/Mazda partnership years 1994-2008 really did a number on the brands image... This is what they have spent the last 8 years doing, trying to re-establish a positive and reliable image.

I have had other cars, but keep coming back...
66 FORD P/U
81 VW Westfalia Campervan
85 Nissan P/U
85 Honda Civic
91 Honda Prelude Si
94 Honda Accord
97 Honda Civic
98 Acura Integra

I sat in a 2017 CR-V yesterday. It's got some nice features (though no heated rear seat or HUD like the '17 CX-5 - c'mon, Honda!), but I couldn't shake the impression of how cheap and tinny it felt even compared with my '16 CX-5.

there are people out there who think that relationship still exists...my dad & at least 3 other people have asked me 'so basically you bought a ford?' upon finding out about both of my mazdas

The most reliable car I've ever had was my 2005 Mazda 6i sedan. Cheapest model on the lot... manually tranny and zero options.

Having said that, the new CX5 is growing on me... even the front bumper which I originally despised (due to the trout pout).

Funny how perceptions vary. I have come across quite a few with a more favorable view of Ford, They even substantiated their point by referencing many auto industry articles expressing concern for Mazda without the financial might of Ford.
Truth is, Mazda is small fledgling in the automobile world. I love my CX-5, but I have to admit I've had more recalls (3) with it than any other vehicles I've owned.

The number of recalls isn't a very good metric of quality.
These days car makers are so afraid of the NHTSA they issue recalls for very minor things.

Things that a few years ago would have been brushed under the carpet are now full blown recalls.

Only 3? And they're all really minor. You should see how many others have. Acura has had issues with suspensions not bolted together properly, failing seat belts, headlight issues...

Some people may like Ford, but far fewer like a Mazdaford.

I, too, have found that most people think Ford still owns Mazda.

The recalls on my 2015 CX5 are all non-starters. Gas filler neck, paint on the rear lift, and something about reprogramming an airbag so it doesn't fray/tear the fabric or some swill when it goes off. I am completely okay with this list.
