Queries before first service

:
2019 CX5 GT-R
Hello All
My 2016 CX5 GT is now completed 4 mths with total running of 4800 kilometers. I have a few queries and observations.

1. Overall i feel the vehicle is not very smooth while driving. Especially the steering. I feel its very heavy and requires more effort in turning. Previously i had driven a CX3 and CX9 (2014 models) and those cars
steering's are very smooth. I had this heavy steering feeling from day 1. Does others have the same experience ?

2. GPS is always problematic. Takes almost well over 30 seconds to lock the position of the car correctly, Also very often the car position is reported wrongly

3. Im planning to do the anti-rust coating from Canadian tire (60$) before taking it for first service. Any comments ?

4. When is the right time for taking the car for service, The service due wrench appeared twice and i reset it to 8k. But i will be taking the car for service before 5500.

Kindly share your comments and suggestions

1. Have your alignment checked, it should not be heavy.

2. My 2016 has no issues vs my old 2014 which was horrible!! Have dealer check for an update.

3. Aftermarket coatings are all up to you. If installed/applied correctly.

4. I always get my first service done well before the suggested time, to each their own. Base your service intervals on your driving habits.

Hello davesxx01
Thanks for the comments. Can you please elaborate on point 1. -- alignment check

If your alignment (Toe) is off it will feel harder to steer or keep in a straight line. Also check tire pressure when cold! Every time I go to the dealer to get a service they set the tires to spec,,,, only problem is the tires are hot and artificially over inflated.
The next day at work I drive into the shop after work (tires cold) and use a digital gauge to reset to the correct pressure.

+1 FOR SETTING TIRE PRESSURE COLD. I would also take my owners manual with me and circle only those required services so you don't get up-sold unnecessary stuff. Ed

Do you guys wait till after the first service before you hit above 3K rpm?

German cars dont seem to need to run in. But are Japanese cars the same?

Drive the full range of RPM's, just don't sit at any one RPM for a long duration until 600 miles.
