One year of ownership

I was at my Mazda dealer last weekend checking out the new CX-9. I checked the CX-5 GT on site and asked sales manager whether he'd heard any production changes on 2016.5 CX-5 adding the memory seat by Mazda. Both answers were negative. But kids_dad insisted he has seen memory driver seat and 6-way power passenger seat on the 2016.5 CX-5 in that CX-9 thread. I really hope Mazda finally listened and started adding the memory seat feature as all other competitors have this. I don't really care about power passenger seat though. Unfortunately I can't get this feature we really want as the memory seat function is almost impossible to add by ourselves like paddle shifter even though all the parts are now may be available in the US. There're too many things involved and need to be changed.

Here you go!!!!

For me, the comfort is not just about the seats/cushions, but also about placement of right foot. I always used to pivot my foot on the heel to move between accelerator and brake. Can't do that in CX-5 because the two pedals are at considerably different levels. Have to lift the foot to toggle between accelerator and brake. It's a non-issue for long drives, but frustrating during stop-and-go city traffic. That, combined with hard seat cushions and lack of enough lumbar support are the reasons why I struggle to find a comfy seating position.

I really have no idea. I'd consider it if the cost was reasonable.

Same here - I'll ask if my dealer has an opinion on the subject when I take it in for an oil change this month.

I never noticed having to lift my foot b/t the two pedals - no issues w/lumbar support. The hard seat cushion and pronounced seams are what cause me discomfort.

Memory wouldn't do a darn thing for me. I can't find a spot I'd put on memory anyhow. It isn't uncomfortable it is just not right. I don't think if you gave me 30 adjustments i could find one to save. Never ever have I had this. Some seats just plain suck this one doesn't suck it is like using another pillow just can't get right.

That's exactly what I do as well. Never had this problem with any previous cars.

I'm constantly adjusting my seat trying to find a comfortable position, and then my husband will drive it and I have to search for the comfortable positioning again. I REALLY wish it had memory seats.

That is odd. I've had all sorts of vehicles, and NEVER had this issue. However, I will say that some vehicles had more "driver focused" lay-outs regarding clutch pedal/brake/gas pedal and shifter placement/alignment, etc. My 370Z was pretty good in that regard. The Japanese typically, for all of their flaws, DO build VERY driver-centric vehicles. But I have never had a seat that I couldn't get comfortable in.

I am eight months into ownership and at this point I have considered a variety of options for the bottom cushion (seat cover, gel and foam cushions (several), adjustment, adjustment, adjustment, etc.). The general consensus on reupholstering the seat is that unless the shop really knows what they are doing, I may end up in no better a situation and potentially laying out a lot of cash.

Although I like everything about the car, I am just about surrendered to the idea that I may never be fully comfortable. My wife will gladly trade with me (she likes the height). I saw the thread where someone replaced their seat - has anyone else found a replacement that fits well and looks good?

On another car forum I learned to use masking tape to mark where my seat is. If anyone moves the seat, I just put it back to where the tape lines up.

Had the 2014 I'm trading today for 2 years and close to 25000 miles. Loved it and, of course, the color is the greatest. Hence, decision to trade it on an identical car, just 2 years newer. :-)
