Window Tints (?)

"Invisible" bras are a great idea until they get damaged by UV and need to be removed for aesthetics. Then you'll never want that stuff to touch your vehicle again.

Also, I do prefer computer-cut tints as they don't require cutting on the glass. When people cut on the vehicle, they may cut the rubber liners which would effect the seal and wind noise.
Exactly what happened to my CX-5 when I had the front windows done a couple of weeks ago! The tint shop had to replace the upper door trim on the driver's side, so they made nothing on the job!

I'm also curious what body shops have to say about invisible bras, when they need to remove to do bodywork repairs.

Anyone has any experience with SunTek film? I'm trying to compare it to 3M Color Stable.
Here are some numbers:

Suntek CXP 35
VLT 33%
TSER 53%
VLR 6%
UVR 99%

3M CS 35
VLT 39%
TSER 40%
VLR 6%
UVR 99%

According my info SunTek CXP35 offers a better Total Solar Energy Rejection but les Visible Light Transmission.
I'm I interpreeting this correctly? I live in Florida and my car has black leather interior, and at this point I'm leaning for SunTek.
Any comments?

I was told by a reputable tint dealer that the 3M FX Premium will match our mfg tinted windows, any thoughts on this?

I made my decision, and went with Suntek CXP 35. Came out great, tomorrow I'll post a pic.

I open another post in the welcom section without picture so here is a pic of my ride with Illumar ATC 20% on the fronts. I was thinking about the CTX but i didnt know if the factory tint have the same heat blocking properties so i went with ATC.

I went with Luminar Ceramic at 20% on the front windows and 2.5% on the sun strip. I think it is a perfect match. I have had no issues interfereing with Navigation.

Has anyone experienced this when getting the back door triangle windows tinted? When I questioned it the guy who tinted it said he couldn't do it right to the top. Is he pulling my leg?

I think your tinter just doesn't have the talent to do it, personally.

On another note, I got my front two windows done to match the back, and my back windows metered 25%, with the machine blipping to 26% before settling at 25. 33% Ceramic was used on my front windows, which without tint, metered 76, I believe. The resulting combo dropped the rated tint to a calculated 25.08%. To my Mod 1 Certified eye-balls, it looks bang-on, just like the math and meter says it should. However, I did not have him meter the finished product, because I didn't want the meter messing up the uncured tint.

^ We had another earlier poster on this forum with same results, meter showed 25% on rear privacy glass tint from factory.

That pic looks suspect. As in DIY pre-cut kit suspect. The pros usually custom cut them.

I have mentioned this in a few other threads but, my 2016 GT just metered out at 16% for factory tint. I am wondering if it is different from other years?

Picked mine up today after getting ppf and the front windows tinted. My shop metered the back windows at 22%. I don't know if I believe the 16% to be accurate. They installed 20% for me and I can not tell the difference at all. Looks really good, I'll get some pics tomorrow.

Pics as promised, 20% on the front with suntek films (at least I think that's the brand used, I didn't really ask)

After (Perfect match if you ask me):

Man, now I'm really confused. One says metered at 16,the other at 22, and both look to be a match from outside... Who do I believe?! I too, have a 2016 cx5 on it's way to being tinted. Was set on 15%, till I just saw this post. Stumped...

Does it really matter what the different shops metered the back out as? We both went with 20% on the fronts and think it's a perfect match. I would say, if you trust the tint shop, have them meter it with their meter and put on what they think will be the best match. I'd wager that they will but on 20%

I went and did limo tint all around at 2.5% I had them go over the factory tint. It looks great. I will post a pic later
