New Owner of 02 Protege with rod knocking 🤔

Engine 2.0 16 valve was run completely out of oil. Seems to have been leaking from the rear camshaft at the front gear. Engine is knocking on 1 cylinder , bad.
Most likely going to replace the engine with a used one. Any opinions ? Is it worth trying to put a few connecting rod bearing in and trying that first ?

How long was the engine running without oil? A few seconds? Many minutes?

Around 10 minutes. It has a loud knock.

Yeah replace the motor with a used jdm or the like that one is pretty much done for.

I have the engine removed at this point. Was looking on eBay at engines. I'm in Jacksonville Florida and there is a engine here in town listed. It appears to be a fsze though because it has a black box on the intake. Is this engine basicly a bolt up ?
