hi, all, i recently bought cx5 GT, and looking to buy winter tires.
my car came with 19' wheel/tire (all season), and i'm thinking of getting 17' tire ... does this mean i have to buy 17' wheel separately?
when i searched for winter tires on costco, it listed a bunch of winter tires with 17' wheel size (i searched by cx5 GS, searching by cx5 GT returned only 19' tires)
is it safe to order 17' winter tires from costco, and not worry about this wheel size thing?

thanks in advance

Yes in order to use a 17 inch tire, you will need to use the 17 inch wheel.

Your GT now has a 19 inch tire that is mounted on a 19 inch wheel.

Tire and wheel sizes must match.

ok, but if i just order 19' winter tires, it shouldn't matter then?

If you would like to keep your same wheels, and mount snow tires, yes, you will want 19 inch tires for your 19 inch wheels.

Many people prefer to run a little narrower snow tire in a higher tire sidewall height. So that is why you will see many people who live in snow areas prefer to downsize and order a set of 17 inch wheels and mount dedicated snow tires to them to swap out with the 19 inch wheels and tires when the snow seasons start

check the 'show us your winter wheels' topic, last couple pages for some local info
a costco buyer, and a dealer special buyer (me) for some options

ditto on looking at 17 inch wheels/tires for the winter though

Order the 17" wheels at the same time as the tires and Costco will probably mount them for free. If you only have one set of wheels then the mounting/dismounting has to be done twice a year. That's a lot of wasted time, effort and dollars and is hard on the tire beads which could lead to failure down the proverbial road.
