'16 CX-5... mud flaps, or no?

Anyone knows where can I buy OEM splash guards for 2016 model? I heard that splash guards from 2015 won't fit to 2016.

No, they are all the same. See the pictures on post #16 for OEM splash guards I installed to our 2016 CX-5 GT above. You can get one from any Mazda dealers, Amazon, or our sponsor Med Center Mazda.

Thank you yrwei50.
that means if I buy those 2015 splash guards i need to make those "cuts"?

I would like to install the mud flaps myself. Do I need to lift the car and/or remove the wheels to install them? Note: I also posted the question under How To. Hope to get some advise. Thank you.
Own 2016 CX-5 GT.

You do not NEED to remove the wheel, but it would make it easier. If you do not have a full set of screwdrivers, you may have to remove the wheel just to get your full size screwdriver into position. Some screws are close to the tire.

Download the instructions to mount the OEM mudflaps.

As you can see on the pictures above you need to make those cuts to fit 2015 splash guards on 2016 cx5 model. Instructions dont show any cuts in the plastic. I'm very confused.
anyone can answer my question?

I didn't make any 'cuts' when I installed the mudguards.
See page 4 on CX-5 Rear Splash Guards Installation and User's Instruction. The OEM rear splash guards are designed for 2013~2016 CX-5's as there is no change in wheel well areas.

As I said in my previous post, the square cut on plastic wheel liner is necessary to accommodate the bottom clip nut of the three. People say they didn't cut the liner is because they skipped the step and they would have extra set of clip nut and screw left. I felt this cut is for bottom screw and it's needed to hold the rear splash guard properly. You won't see the cut as it gets covered by the splash guard.

So has anyone noticed a reduction in MPG with the mud flaps?

My other question is with snow. Do mud flaps trap more snow or cause problems if you get into deep snow? I would be worried they might rip off in deep snow?

No issues with MPG here.

I went through 2 winters with my Chinese flaps on my 14 Touring in WI without issues.

When I purchased my 16 GT a couple weeks ago I removed them from my 14 to put on my 16. All 4 were/are in great shape, no cracks.

Here's a pic of the rokblokz flaps on my fiance's cx5. She loves them and there is no mpg difference that I can tell.

So no real issues with MPG loss or snow buildup with the OEM Mazda splash guards? The OEM rears do stick out further than the tires

They are a total rip for a piece of plastic ($50 rear - $50 fronts). It probably cost Mazda $2 to make it.

Howdy Littlebear,

I think I'm going to have to take exception to your comment about the Splash
Guards being a total rip and a piece of Plastic. I agree they may not be as functional as
some that go lower to the ground, but these are molded plastic that conforms
to the Black Plastic Wheel Wells, and I think they look pretty nice.

I think for the Quality of them and having them installed
the price was more than fair.

I do like the OEM Mazda splash guards. I just wish they didn't cost $100 :) I will install them myself since the dealership with charge me for it as they were not factory installed. The factory will install the roof rack and rear bumper guard but it's easy enough to install the guards I can do it myself. I did it on my Mazda3 myself, took about 30 minutes for all 4.

The OEM fit really nice and blend with the vehicle. They do help with keeping dust and dirt from being flung all over the car panels.

The OEM splash guards will take longer than 30 minutes in install with some cutting involved for rear ones.
