Let's not mince words. "Rare" is the word that well fits "a hard find" and "difficult to find".

odds are, it should serve you fine. I've never heard anything bad about Subaru, except the new BRZ, and a friend of mine has one and loves it. Still dunno what could be so unreliable about it, but that's another thread.
Finding a thread about a problem is not very hard. However, if you find several threads with many posts, then it means there is some issue.
One of the above threads have 55 pages of posts. Seems like an issue to me.
FYI, this H6 engine is on its way out, soon to be replaced by a more efficient alternative.
Also, the CVT in this H6 car is brand new, first year. Are you sure you want to buy a brand new transmission on its first year?

Did you read the posts? Most say no such problems noticed. And how many posts were from 2015? And the CVT isn't so much brand new as perfected from previous models. So yes, I'm sure. (cheers2)

Sure you can find anything on the Internet nowadays. But I was amazed people can generalize things to avoid the real issue we're discussing! Now you're talking about the finding of all problems from any cars! We're talking about oil consumption issue on Subaru H6, and you could find whole bunch of discussions related to it. You've been on Subaru forums for over 10 years and you have never heard the oil consumption problem on the Subie H6? Amazing!You can find problems on any car brand doing a web search, it doesn't mean it is general problem with the car, I am sure I could find oil consumption problems on a GM-Nissan-toyota..etc... even here we find people with engine-transmission problems with their Cx-5, would you say all cx-5 have engine problems? anyway I am not here to argue, forum fight are useless, we all have our opinion and that is fine.I am sure gettingLM is old enough to take a decision based on his personal tastes and not the ones from a forum guy like me.
BTW, how many discussions can you find for oil consumption issue on Mazda SA 2.0/2.5L?

There's no use in spitting on a fella's choice of rifles if it brings the meat home. Same goes for vehicles. You'll no doubt be happy in your Sub, good vehicle, it will faithfully serve you well for many miles to come.
One aspect of human nature we all deny because we are 'rational' is this. If a person gets what they want they tend to overlook a lot. If they get their 2nd choice, i.e. settled for something, then they nit-pick it to death. Kind of like the politician YOU voted for... ;-)
If you bought a Mazda you would forever 2nd guess the decision even though it is a superior vehicle. LOL... see, human nature kicking in there.

To the OP, enjoy your purchase! What happened here is pretty typical of what happens at pretty much any car forum (at least the other 2 that I visit on occasion). Never post in a car forum that you bought a competing vehicle, because people will generally put it down. I haven't quite figured out the reason, but I think people generally feed offended when their own purchasing decision isn't somehow validated. Anyway, good luck with the new vehicle!

That doesn't apply - Outback doesn't compete with CX-5.
If he/she got him/herself a Forester and posted here -- that would be a whole another story...

Haha! You should have seem the Jeep forum when I got my cx5 and got rid of the pos Chrysler. Of course, I was a dick about it because of how every one there lied to me about how reliable jeeps were. I got tired of them gaslighting new members and thy showed m3 th3 door. Hence why jeep forums are so full of reliable rides...

I'd say it does. It competes with the forester for sure. They are nearly identical actually.
technologically they are very close, but the feel/perception is totally different
Outback is still a station wagon with some wooden trim no matter what the numbers in the specs say
