What is it about the factory USB/AUX that new decks can't handle?

Is it just their choice that they don't want to add that kind of port to the back? Or something more?

I like the location of it is why I don't want to lose it, but a new deck is worth it to me. I also read that the power is kept so it can still be used for charging which is nice.
Just would rather not have a mini usb sticking out of the deck at all times, but there's worse things.
