Does anyone know of an obd2 scanner and app that works with the iPhone and protege5?
I've currently got a CEL on, but once that's sorted, I'd like to have something to monitor other things...fuel mileage, for starters.

Awesome! Now are there any iPhone users who recommend a Bluetooth dongle that works and won't cost an arm and a leg?
My boyfriend bought the same dongle that a few of his android-user friends bought, and his won't work in his '08 Explorer or in my car. I don't know what kind of cars the other guys drive, but wondered if it's a Ford problem? Mazda and Ford have that Ford family link, right?

Just bought this last night...

Xseries Auto™ Elm327 WIFI Wirless OBD2 Car Diagnostic Reader Scanner Scan Tool fo... https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

Keeping my fingers crossed this works. There were a few other ones for apple products that were very close to $100, but I just don't have that kind of cash to spend.

99% of adapters with the Elm327 chip work with torque for android. I bought one off of ebay for less than that and haven't had any problems.

It's not the app that's as much in question as which Bluetooth OBD dongle to use. I have an iPhone and they tend to be picky when it comes to Bluetooth pairing.

If you get one of the ELM models make sure it is Wifi and not BT when used with an iPhone. BT models seem to have issues IIRC.

I've used Elm adapter with iPhone and iOBD2.

I have a $100 cable I picked up a few years back but don't use that one much anymore.

Just received the scanner today, and my iphone won't recognize it. This is BS! The description said it works with iPhone, and the reviews said iPhone users weren't having any problems.
It didn't come with anything but a little CD-rom - no instructions at all. The cd wouldn't play in my PC either.

Are you trying to connect via Wifi or BT?

I've tried both. Preferably I'd like to connect by Bluetooth so I can monitor it while I'm driving (MPG and everything else).

https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned) is model I have that works with my iPhone.

I've never used a BT model so don't know how well that works. I heard a lot of stories of them not working so avoided purchasing. You can use a Wifi model while driving as well. It will just connect to device in Ad-Hoc mode.

Mine looks a little different with the labeling, but that is the same model number I just got, plus a disc just like it.
So how'd you get yours to connect? I didn't turn off my stereo first (which is also Bluetooth), but that shouldn't have affected it, right?

If it isn't showing up as a device to connect to via Wifi it may be defective. I didn't have to do anything special to connect to it out of the box.

I sent the seller a message, so I'm anxious to see what he has to say.
